Jerry needs to find a way to pay his star players under the table or huge after retirement bonuses when the player is officially out of the league.
There has to be a way to keep money off the salary cap records.
And I believe Wagner would've been a Cowboy if not for that stupid Morris Claiborne trade.

Recent history? Yup...Claiborne. History? Drafting Shante Carver . Followed by David Lafleur. Those 3 stand out.

I dont have a a problem paying Cooper because sometimes you have to pay based on projections. Its a gamble, but in building and maintaining a 53 players roster, you will have to make that gamble from time to time. It comes down to the organizations ability to assess how likely the player is to hit that projection.

With Cooper I dont have based on his past production, and his production with Dallas, I dont have a problem with them giving hin to tier money. I dont see any why why not to expect 80-90 receptions and 1,200-1,300 yards a year from him that has been the land mark number for Cowboys #1 WR

He’s never actually had 1200 yards in his life, even in the year when David Carr was going off. Doesn’t mean he can’t ever do it, but it is suspicious for a guy making pro bowls.

id stay with byron and cut jaylon smith .
your joking I think. That would gut or depth and quality.I do think tho that Byron is odd man out. Jaylon wont be going anywhere. We cant pay everyone top dollar. I think Byron and MAYBE even Zeke are gonners down the road.

this franchise learned NOTHING whatsoever if we do not pay Amari Cooper. I don't even blink, and I am signing him to a max deal NOW. He means so much to the chemistry of the offense and in the locker-room.

They should have had that all worked out when they traded for him. How can you give away a #1 draft pick and still not have the guy signed long term?

Good players, but neither in wagner's league.
Neither of these guys are as good as Bobby Wagner. Not even close.

And in the end, they may have to choose between Jaylon and LVE. Can't pay everybody.

Vander Esch compares favorably to Wagner.
- He had more solo tackles than Wagner had even had in a season.
- His 7 Passes Defensed was only exceeded by Wagner once (2018).

He has still only been playing for four years, and 3 of those 4 years he went over 1k. Probably would have gone over 1,300 this season had he played 16 games in Dallas. Came in with less than 300 yards in 7 games with Oakland.

Projecting 1,200 to 1,300 yards a season for Cooper isnt much of a stretch.

With the Cowboys, I don't consider it tough personnel decisions, it's the tough position decisions that they may make that concern me. They could get really offense lopsided on the cap very quickly.

Cowboys are already paying more for the 22nd ranked offense vs the 7th ranked defense.

FO gonna need to distribute the cap more evenly in the future. They these young defenders.

Based on Zekes stunt, why shouldn’t LVE hold out for a new deal now?

But, erod, isn't that case against Prescott getting 32-34M? He's not as good as Wilson and Rodgers? It is a different position but don't you think ego/salary gets involved with every position? Some of these guys had it written into their contracts as long ago as 15 years.

Wow, he represented himself and got that deal. Good for him! It's starting to seem like all these other teams are paying big money, just so it raises the price for us to sign our best guys! I'm no conspiracy theorist, but
Not having to pay an agent would make for a significant increase is in pay.

Interesting numbers, but they could be affected by performance of d-line. And if Wagner covered receivers well, QBs wouldn't be inclined to throw in his direction. Imo stats only work for baseball.

Luckily we don’t have to worry about LVE for at least 3 more years
Unless he improves on his rookie season. The move seems to be to getting more now once these rooks show up but he's not a RB with that shelf life. Especially a contact back.

I would prefer Elliott didn't do this as a fan but if I were his Dad, this is exactly what I would be advising. It's not like he hasn't proven himself on the field and he is the best skill position player and Cooper is scheduled to make 14M without an extension, Booger is all about entertainment and he is the most entertaining player so I get the hold out.
