let's tone it down a bit and have a logical discussion.

I set forth a premise; and even an inference; and provided the zone with a logical conclusion.

now all i get is people casting aspersions and all this nonsense.

wake up folks...

wake up...

If you think his 40 time matters you are a fool. People have posted solid players with a slower 40s. What is your responds to that?

For an O lineman its his 10 yard burst that is important.

the 40 doesn't matter?

then why does Mike Mayock say the contrary?

Why did Parcells appreciate pace in his linemen?

Jimmy Johnson; Bill Cowher; Dave Wanstedt...

These are all guys that pay attention to the 40 yard dash when evaluating players folks!

Nate newton could not run a 40 worth a damn but he could block. Jimmy seems pretty happy about it.

Lets not forget Kevin Gogan. The guy was timed with a calendar.

Bottom line can you play this game at a high enough level? I have nothing bad to say about a player posting a good 40 be it a WR or an OL but in the end can you play this game? and the underware olympics can't tell you that. Some guys test very well but are not very good players.

If you look at the 40 times of offensive linemen taken in the draft, you'll find that teams don't really pay much attention to them for that position. They are looking for quickness out of their stance (explosiveness). They are looking for lateral agility. But they are not looking for linemen who can run 40 yards faster than other linemen.

The 40 is a greater measure for players who need to have long speed, such as receivers, running backs, defensive backs and even linebackers. It won't tell you which ones will succeed, but will aid in the evaluation of their overall ability
