I could give a hoot about our win losses in the pre-season but how we progress as we play. There is one tangible performing game in the preseason and that usually is the third game which is a dress rehearsal for the regular season.

My concern about our team remains too many penalties and too many players performing inconsistently. A lot of that falls on the coaching not just the players. If we tighten things up on defense, offense and particularly special teams I will even more positively look forward to the regular season.

Anyone concerned about one dimensional scheming or overscheming should have their head examined. It is about evaluating players, even refining positions and fundamentally working out the kinks on defense, offense and special teams by controlled playing against competition. Winning is always welcomed, but truly icing on the cake.

I don't know why some people freak out that some fans are concerned. This team has used up it's "Don't worry, we'll turn it on when it counts" goodwill. This isn't the 1993 team. This team hasn't accomplished squat, and they're not going to get the benefit of the doubt until they've done something to earn it.

Slice it up any way you like it; but without a solid offensive ball control game plan, you'll see many good looking drives fall short.

This team has become a passing team, and they only run to keep the defense honest.

The problem with that, is that they don't get the momentum from wearing down the defense and the clock with the running game. The recievers are winded, and lose a little of their edge on the defenders when it comes to quick moves.

The running game establishes dominance on the line of scrimmage; and it will help an offensive line develop a rhythm.

It's why passing offenses traditionally have failed; because even though they have the flash, they fail when it comes to controlling a game.

I'd be more concerned with the pass rush and the defense right now. Just in case you missed it, even Babe said the Broncos were running an 8 man front and if we had game planned, we could've torched them all day long in the passing game.

Our defense didn't blitz until later on in the 2nd quarter when we finally got a huge stop.

Honestly dude, you need to relax, take a vacation. Now this Friday when we actually put a tad bit of game planning in, we'll see if they have the same struggles and if they do, I'll eat my crow and agree with you.

What scares me is the tendencies that I see in the offense that are hanging over from the last 7 games of last year.

What tendencies? THERE'S NO GAMEPLAN IN THE PRESEASON! Tendencies shmendencies! Can we PLEASE stop overanalyzing something not worthy of that effort - PLEASE!

Tony Romo concentrated too much on getting the ball to Terrell Owens; and then missed a wide open Sam Hurd for a touchdown.

Marion Barber didn't provide a spark in the running game, as was promised, and was a non-factor during the time that the first stringers were playing except for one nice play on a dump pass. Felix Jones is already showing more pizazz than Barber.


The real issue, though, is the lack of definition on the part of the offense when it comes to continuity.

What I mean is, that they seemingly are over confident in the passing game, and are trying too many lower percentage- big yardage plays; which result in 4th downs when the defense is able to stop them.

It reminds me of an Ernie Zampesie offense. He always said he had to make himself call a running play.

The Cowboys cannot expect to 'wing it' all year long on the arm of Tony Romo. It will take a consistent running game that will chew up the clock, and demoralize and wear down the defense; and that is when the offense can expect the big plays from the passing game.

There's one glaring problem that's hanging over from last season- the lack of committment to the run, giving continuity and rhythm to the offense.

The overconfidence of the offense is scary at times- but they are not doing what it takes to be dominant on the field. Anybody can throw the ball.

It takes a champion to drive the field with control and direction- wearing down and demoralizing the other team's defense with physical power, and then striking quickly with the pass when the opportunity is there.

Jones comes in for an injuried Morris and can't carry the load. Kind of funny watching him run into the backs of the Seattle line men 3 or 4 times this week.
