Niners playoff game:

QB A: 254 yards passing, 2 TD's, 1 pick
QB B: 172 yards passing, 0 TDs, 1 pick

Which is the QB that imploded and which is the QB that didnt?
QB A QBR 27.3 5 sacks

Which QB won and did what it takes to win?

Did you watch the game? Dak had the ball with 2 minutes to go past mid field, 3 timeouts, 49ers were down Nick Bosa and a touchdown would probably win the game. He failed. That is how you judge a quarterback. It is what it is. Hopefully Dak can win it next year but I guarantee the Joneses have questions. We all saw the AFC playoffs. Those quarterbacks are better then Dak.
The goal is to up his game.
Hopefully the suggestions here will be accomplished.

i think we need to be more balanced on offense...which goes back to our oline.
we strengthen that area...this offense returns to what we were seeing earlier in the '21 season.

He needs a better OL....that's all. He has the goods, just needs time to go through his progressions.
I think this is partly true, but I also think at times Dak lags back into a tendency to take too long to make a decision. He is most effective making a quick read and confident throw. Like Kitna preached to him a few years back - drop back, make a decision and let it rip.

The Dallas offense excels as a unit when the OL is operating at maximum efficiency.
Most of our offensive problems will disappear when that problem is resolved.

He will never pass their "eye test" regardless of his production.

The "eye test" is backed up by results....if you are talking about statistics, any one with half a brain knows that all yards are not created equal. Most were obtained from the beatings and routs in the weak sisters of the poor division. Against real legit football teams coming from the big leagues Dak collapsed with the rest of the team. Dazed and confused to put it mildly. Your "eye test" is based on tunnel vision.

Playing with an injury really makes a difference....don't know of you have ever done that, but it's not easy

It's a crummy choice that the Cowboys are stuck with. You can't really do anything to improve the QB. He had time in the playoff game to throw but tge coverage was tighter and he was scared. You can't fix choke!

O-line needs another overhaul. Dallas has 2 players that would start on more than half the teams in the NFL. When you had 4, you were dominant and Dak had his most efficient season. The O-line may be more of a liability in 2022 than it has been in 10 years; that is the number 1 thing to improve your QB production.

Which QB got the majority of that while his team was down by multiple possessions in the second half?

Fix the trenches and get a better OC. By trenches, I mean both sides. The oline for obvious reasons. The Dline to increase the short fields we get to increase scoring production. OC so we can get smarter play calling.

This is not a hate/love Dak thread.
This thread is about how do we improve our production at the QB position?
I am curious what concrete solutions other posters have on how we improve the position?
The only rule here is it has to be in the realm of possibility.
So, you can't just say: "cut Dak", it would have to fit the salary cap.
If you can cut Dak and make it work with the cap,
what other player would you bring in that would give us better numbers?

My take is that with the contract Dak has, he is gonna be here awhile.
My solution would be for Mac to redesign the offence into a more West Coast short passing game.
Dak seems to struggle with reading the field, so cut down on the options.

Also invest heavily in the oline with the draft and remaining free agent signings.
Having your center in your lap when you drop back to pass is difficult for any QB to overcome.

If possible go to a more run heavy offense.
We have 2 very good RB's, play to that strength.

I also would love to see Mac in control of the offense/playcalling and not Moore.
Mac's forte is offense and why is making the big bucks.
Let's take advantage of that as well.

Thoughts ?
Dak struggled down field looking for Lamb first and not the wide open Amari Cooper. Arlington Jonesboys does what Jerry Dumbo GM Jones wants. He is President, GM, and defacto Head Coach.

You better hope that Lamb is a no.1 WR, they get someone as good as Cooper, and your one legged WR comes back for ACL tear....NOT. Get ready for the first half of 2018 all over again.

Just pointing out to you out qb played the better game and it’s clearly not always about the qb.

so what happened on that drive u are talking about?

I am a Dak fan but he was paid that money to bring us home in that situation. Hopefully he will win that game this year. Yes Connor Williams and Paper Boy did not help but when you make all the money you get the blame.

Haven't we already done the great OL, elite RBs and WRs thing in recent years? And it hasnt worked.

WC offense is all about timing, accuracy and anticipation - the skills Dak is weak on. He's not a WC QB.

We can find the cap room to accommodate a 1st rounder at QB. We can also find the cap room to sign one of the many "not quite good enough" veterans who'd give us similar production to Dak, but at a cost of <5m per year to give us some depth in the position - Cowboys must have the weakest QB depth chart in the league.

No qbs can’t do it alone and especially not with dropped passes and penalties that kill a drive.
