Figured I'd start this thread and see how many people joined in.

The idea of the thread is to converse with fellow fans that are also working on getting back into shape, perhaps trade advice, and even track your progress.

Figured I'd start out by giving you my progress for today and posting a topic that everybody looking to get healthy (or just stay alive) should know about.

Today I jogged 1.3 miles in 13 minutes and did a little bit of circuit training.

Today's topic is the dangers of High Fructose Corn Syrup:

I like this idea. I've been kinda slacking off on working out for the last couple of months. I'll use this thread as motivation to start working out again. I'm thinking running 3 days a week and some sort of weight training 3 days.

Nope, my wife and I invested in a treadmill a few weeks back, it has been a blessing, now I can run every day of the week. I also try and ride around White Rock Lake a couple times a week, been tough lately with the 100+ degree weather though.

The first couple of weeks is the hardest, once you get passed that, the working out just becomes second nature.

Does getting up and going from the recliner to the fridge and back count as cardio? :)

I have been on a workout regimen the last three months and I have lost around 50 lbs. I am 6'4" and I have gone from 240 down to 185 and now I am focusing more on lifting weights and loading up on Whey Protein to build muscle. All I did was cut out the soft drinks and sugar, as well as late night eating and I ran around 2-3 miles, six days per week. Consistency is key.

Ran 4 miles this morning at around 13.5 minutes per mile.

Tomorrow morning is weights and a 3 (possibly 4) mile jog.

So far I have lost 50 lbs in a year. Last August I was 235, and right now I am 185. I'm 5'9"

Wow. Some serious weight loss in here. I was about 320 a little over a year ago and now I'm at 220. I'm 6'4", so I'm thinking I need to lose another 20-30 pounds to get rid of my lovehandles and midsection.

Once I drop these last few pounds that keep hanging on, I'm going to try and build some muscle. At this point though, I'd rather cut instead of build I'm thinking. I'd like to be able to actually see the definition once I start getting some. :D

I've been doing the P90X workout for quite awhile and it is a killer but if you stick with it and follow the diet you can get ripped. Anyone who wants to try it and get an idea what the workouts are like checkout the progress videos on Youtube.

I have done the Low Carb diet and it was the one thing that melted off the fat. Once you hit ketosis, its been the fastest fat loss I've seen.

I'm on week 7 of p90x, doing good so far. I'm actually trying to gain weight/muscle, not lose it. I've gained almost 10 lbs so far.

The workouts aren't so bad for me, it's having to constantly be thinking about eating good calories all day, everyday that's hard.

I used to just skip breakfast so I could get that extra bit of sleep before work, can't do that anymore.

I do feel much better though, I don't start fighting to stay awake around 4 anymore.

I lift three days a week. I end my lifting days with a 1 mile jog at about 5.5 mph.

I run (or bike) 2-3 days a week. (in between my lifting days) My running days either consist of three miles straight run at about 5.5mph and I complete them in about 45 minutes or I go into a full run (about 9mph) for about 45 seconds then slow it down to 6mph, then down to 3.5mph until I get my breath back and then start the process over. This process takes about 5 minutes total and I do it six times in 30 minutes. I complete about 2 miles in that process.

I take a minimum of 1 day off every four days. Sometimes life dictates more than that, but I try really hard not to have a seven day stretch where I did less than five days of work. (though it has happen, especially when traveling)

I started out this year at 265lbs

I'm 26 yrs old, 5'11"

I started lifting weights and playing soccer (suck it, Hostile) in January, and since about May, I've been at 200 to 205lbs... I've kinda stagnated though - still working out yet not eating as well anymore

my goal is to lose 15 more pounds to get down to 185, then I'll be set
