Dude quit worrying about Austin. First of all he is not a UFA next year. Since it is uncapped year, he is going to be RFA. He will be offered equal amount of money at the outset, if they don't come to terms, about 2 1st round picks, to pry him out of cowboys. No team will be willing to give that.

It wont need 20-30 Mil guranteed money to re-sign him. It will something around 10-15 mil gurantee. He might get close to 20, but that will be max. Being a UDFA, you also lose out on second contract.
Is that what it is, he's an RFA because of the uncapped rules?

Normally he'd be a UFA.

Ah, now that sounds familiar. They really set it up so this uncapped year will be anything but fun.

I walk into Jerry's office the day after our season ends, whenever that is, with Roy Williams' contract in hand and say, "Hmm, I like this"

It's obvious he'll be looking for a new contract in the offseason considering he's currently playing on his one-year tender. I guess we could tag him and make him prove it again next year, but he definitely deserves to be paid like our #1.

What would the cap implications be if we cut Roy in the offseason? Honest question. I almost feel like it would be better to just cut our losses with him and move on with Austin/Olgetree/Crayton/Draft pick.

Yeah he should get a fat deal.

People forget the guy is 6'3 215-220.

So someone like him is going to demand a lot.

If RW11 is on the roster, I don't see how JJ has any choice but to pay him as a #1. He will pretty much have to pay Miles more....

Miles leverage depends on CBA? Uncapped year he would have no leverage, though Jerry does the right thing I'm sure.

I want him locked up for 6 years, I want half of his salary incentive based and I want to give him a big hug everytime he exceeds all the incentives.

His last performance in NO should definitely punch his ticket to the Pro Bowl. Anybody else agree/disagree discuss...

:p: There we go, yes he should be in Miami, but like one other guy said, he won't be playing because of the SB. :D

Jerry will do the right thing. [/threads]

I know I'm exercising wishful thinking by saying that this should end all Miles Austin contract threads...this is the first of probably 13901230491 x 10^6 threads on this topic.

Why the hell is the Pro Bowl not in Hawaii this year? A prelude to us losing the Thanksgiving Day game? :(

2010 Pro Bowl moving to Miami, will be played before Super Bowl

The 2010 Pro Bowl will be played one week before the Super Bowl on Sunday, Jan. 31 and both games will be staged in Dolphin Stadium, the NFL announced Tuesday.

"We are looking at alternatives to strengthen the Pro Bowl," said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. "We will continue to work with the players to make it a great event and will evaluate this concept after the 2010 Pro Bowl."

The site and date of Pro Bowl games after 2010 will be determined at a later date and will include playing the game on a rotating basis in Honolulu, the NFL announced.

The current AFC-NFC Pro Bowl format, which began in 1971, rotated annually between host sites until 1980 when it moved to Honolulu. The 2010 game also won't be South Florida's first Pro Bowl: the 1975 game took place in Miami's Orange Bowl. The game has been held in Tampa, Seattle, Dallas, Kansas City, New Orleans and Los Angeles on three occassions.

It's not a new notion to have the game moved up to take place between the conference championship games and the Super Bowl. The NFL has discussed it multiple times in recent years, and Goodell told the Associated Press last month that having the game precede the Super Bowl would avoid a "somewhat anticlimactic" ending to the season.

The initiative to experiment with the Pro Bowl schedule and location was discussed over the past two years with NFL club owners, the NFL Players Association, the NFL Player Advisory Council, and other players, and it received wide player and club support.

"Moving the Pro Bowl to the Sunday prior to the Super Bowl can add even more excitement to Super Bowl week, one of the most anticipated weeks of the year," said Frank Supovitz, the NFL’s senior vice president of events. "Taking the Pro Bowl to new locations can showcase our top players to more fans around the country. We are also in discussions with key leaders in Hawaii to continue our partnership with the State of Hawaii, which has embraced the Pro Bowl for 30 years."

In addition to the Pro Bowl's annual ticket subscribers, tickets to the 2010 Pro Bowl at Dolphin Stadium will be made available to Dolphins season ticket holders, as well as to fans across the nation. Pro Bowl annual ticket subscribers in Hawaii will maintain their account status for any future games at Aloha Stadium.
