Why be in a hurry to pay Austin?

I have no doubts about his abilities, don't get me wrong. He -has- made the most of every opportunity given. But let's not forget, this is the first time we're seeing him in this active role.

What happened when we overpaid Barber?

Barber is great. He has some down games, fiery player, I wouldn't trade him. But, he is overpaid.

Why make the same mistake with Austin when we don't have to?

His last performance in NO should definitely punch his ticket to the Pro Bowl. Anybody else agree/disagree discuss...

I think if he shows out in the last two games it will seal the deal for sure.

Barber's situation was different because he wasn't the starter and had a very unusual running style that most people thought he would not be able to maintain as a starting RB who gets 300-400 carries per year. Nevertheless, we gave him such a contract.

The league has already gotten a chance to adjust to Miles but he has shown that he can run any route, catch passes in traffic, fool DBs with double moves, break tackles during RAC while protecting the ball. There is nothing he can't do. There is no simple answer on how to play him. If you lay off him, he is too explosive in his cuts to stay with him. If you zone him, he is getting better at recognizing the soft spots and making the tough catches in the windows. If you press him, he is very strong and fast and you run the risk of him knocking you off balance and the sprinting by you with his speed. He is willing to go over the middle. He can catch the smoke passes and bubble screens and do damage.

If you double him all-game long, he won't pout - he doesn't mind his teammates having success while his numbers suffer.

We should pay Miles as a top-10 NFL WR, but I don't think he should be the highest paid because he hasn't proven his abilities over an extended period of time.

The best part of Miles.

Depends on what he does in these last two games IMO.

Lmao, so he leads the NFC in receiving TD's and yards after 15 weeks but him getting resigned depends on the last two games? WOW..... lets think next time before we post shall we.

Ok, he's leading the NFC in receiving yards and TD's after 15 weeks and you think he's not gonna make the pro bowl. you probably should think before you post.

He is leading but not by a wide margin.. Plus we know how flawed the pro-bowl system is..He isn't "locked" to make the pro-bowl by any stretch unless he has two more good games.. Come on now try again.

Ok, so apparently your assuming that Austin could possibly get shut out these last two games and at least 4 other receivers will have big games. Actually about 5 receivers in the NFC since the Probowl is a week before the super bowl and im sure the NFC representative will hold out player, which will open spots on the Pro Bowl roster. So maybe you should think before you post.

Well if you take into account at how the pro-bowl is about names.. Steve Smith, Colston, Desean Jackson, Fitzgerald, and Sidney Rice could get in and Austin be excluded. Roy Williams made the pro-bowl when he was absolutely trash. Fred Taylor never made the pro-bowl in his career until 2007 despite putting up good numbers. I'm done. I am not trying to play this game with you.

Didnt say think before posting. Steve Smith wont make the pro bowl with damn near the same number as Roy E who everyone hates. Unless your talking about the Giants SS who isn't a big name, neither is Sidney Rice or Desean Jackson, none of them have made the ProBowl before, they're in the same exact position as Miles. The only big name you posted was Larry Fitz who deserves to make the pro-bowl anyway. Like i said, think before posting and stop going back and forth after each post its more obvious your just talking

Dunno. I want to see him do this a little more before we give him a big contract.

Leading the NFC with yards and TD's counts as enough for me...

factor in he has 5 less starts than most of them and he is having a hall of fame worthy year.
