Remember when...
....black and whites had to use separate water fountains
....ACL and severe sports injuries usually killed a career
....everyone would smoke in the office and smell like chimneys
....it was difficult to catch a live Cowboys game unless you lived in Dallas
....you died instantly of diseases such as AIDS
....you had to spend twice as much time and money to send hand-written letters instead of email
....you had to watch the crap on network TV (okay, that hasn't changed, but at least we have 200 specialized cable channels now
)
....there weren't any drugs available to treat mental illness
....phone calls had to be at home or stuffy booths you waited on
....TVs were huge boxes that weighed 300+ lbs.
....you had to wait five minutes while your VCR fast forwarded or rewound
....if you wanted to find out about something you were just bleep out of luck unless you had hours to spend at the library or friends who were familiar with the topic (compared to now when one quick internet search will give you everything)
Progress ain't all that bad.
The only things I really regret are rising prices, mass commercialization of sports and any hobby that used to feel "innocent," and our continuing lack of community.
