Remember when...

"Jarts" or lawn darts were still available. Nothing says "family reunion" like the high probability of seriously impaling someone.

You first tried chewing tobacco or snuff and everyone laughed as you vomited everywhere.

10 kids piling into one vehicle to go get ice cream after little league was legal.

Drive in's were everywhere but you had to stay in the car to watch the movie due to the speaker you had to hang in the window.

:lmao2: Good Lord! That is funny. (I still have a full set of those.)

My first cycle crash was on the Honda Mini Trail 50 that was the same line as the 70's which I also rode.

I never could get used to those goofed-up handle bars.:)

And injuries

There was nothing better than playing with the Giants as LT against Philly and them running the qb sweep over and over again until Cunningham was hurt. :laugh1:

Remember when the TV went off at midnight ?

The test pattern would come on with the indian in the middle while the Star Spangled Banner would play and then static the rest of the night.

Remember when the TV was not on all the time? You would turn it on to watch your show and turn it off an hour later when the show was over.

Remember Leave it to Beaver, Father Knows Best, 3 Stooges, My 3 Sons, Andy Griffith, Mighty Mouse, Dudley DooRight, Foghorn Leghorn, The Lone Ranger, Sky King, Roy Rodgers, Sea Hunt.

We would play outside from early in the morning when the grass was wet, until we couldn't see the ball at night when it was getting dark, .. and get mad at your parents for calling you in for dinner.

We would grab our sleeping bags and tell our parents we're sleeping out tonight and never tell them where because we didn't know.

We built forts, a million treehouses, double-decker treehouses, underground forts, forts on stilts, 3 room forts. By the time we got to high school we had a 2 room cabin out in the woods with a front porch, a shingled roof, a mattress to sleep on, a couch to hang out on, and a pot-belly stove to keep warm in the winter. We stole everything from peoples back porches or open garages on the night we slept out.

We ran or rode our bikes everywhere we went because dad had the only car at work. Parents didn't take you everywhere in the car back then.

I could go on and on.

I'm older than most here.

The 60's were an incredibly safe and innocent time to grow up.

No malls, no interstates, no computers, no TV dominated society.

Just the little town we lived in.

I carried newspapers through the downtown for 5 1/2 yrs. I knew the banker, the two barbers(one at each end of town), the owner of the hardware store, the only pharmacist, the gas station owner, both restaurant owners, the only funeral home owner, the lady who owned the candy store, the guy who owned the newspaper/magazine shop, both cops.

Sounds like Mayberry. It was like that in many ways. Great place to grow up.

I would, but trust me, since the Interstate, the malls, strip malls, Lowes, WalMart, Home Depot, KMart, Krogers, etc. etc. ... Goober and the gang are all gone. :(

Remember when...

...run OJ run, had nothing to do with a white Ford Bronco?

...stewardesses were all hot?

...students said the pledge of allegiance to start each school day?

...you could trust Walter Cronkite?

...Johnny Carson owned late night TV?

Remember when stewardesses were actually called "stewardesses" and not "flight attendants"?

Remember when Carson was over, it was then time for the national anthem and the station would sign-off and transmit a test pattern until the following morning?

I thought of a few to add...

-Remember when there was no "Fox box" in the corner of your screen showing the time and score during a football game? (Greatest graphic invention ever!!)

-Remember when AM radio ruled and FM was a novelty with only a few "Beautiful Music" and "Album Oriented Rock" stations scattered across the country?

-Remember when most cars came with ONLY AM radios?

-Remember when Commodore 64 computers were all the rage?

-Remember when cell phones were basically giant bricks with buttons?

-Remember when David Lee Roth was actually considered "cool?" :lmao:

-Speaking of music, remember when all rock bands had an obligatory guitar solo in every song?
