Great victory today. I loved it.

However, after watching yet another game where Marcus Spears was a no-show and with Julius dropping off, is it starting to look like we didn't make out on the trade very well?

Don't get me wrong, I'm a HUGE Cowboys fan and I like Julius and keep hoping that Spears will show up, but I'm starting to wonder if we might not be an even BETTER team had we not just stayed pat and selected Jackson.

Not trying to get anyone riled, but I do have visions of Romo/Owens/Witten/Crayton/Barber/Glenn and Jackson running through my head.

Yeager, again not trying to flame, but the truth is what has Spears done AT ALL? And now, Jones has dropped off. I think after 2 years, it might be time to say that we didn't make out so well.

Spears will NEVER be a great pass rusher. But there is a reason that we have an excellent run defense.

I see that you haven't been here very long but that has been discussed to death around here.

I hear ya, and I'm sure the Jones/Jackson comparisons have been made, but I'm also starting to add Spears' contributions to the mix.

Truth is, for a pretty fine player coming out of LSU and a former #1 pick, Spears, IMO, brings nothing to the table.

We play a 3-4, expecting your defensive ends to put up sexy numbers is rediculous. Hoping they suck up double teams and eliminate opposing teams' running games is reasonable, which both he and Canty seem to be excelling at.

does everyone here Really expect a shutout from our defense and 150
yards rushing from our back every game ?? ya'll do realize there are actually 2
(two) teams on the field and the other team "occasionally" influences what happens ??
spears is fine and so is julius..i like our team.
this week JJ may not have been ' the guy'....but i feel confident before
this season is over he will shine again .
i wish everybody would quit acting like parcells and just enjoy the fact that
we : beat a division rival...on the road...in december.

Things ended up great in StL where they got an excellent up and comer in Jackson.

Things are fine in Dallas with the two players we picked up.

And things are actually starting to look great in Buffalo where JP Losman is starting to look like he will be a successful NFL QB.

I just hate the fact that Buffalo realized what they were missing with Bledsoe sooner than we did....:banghead:

He a DE in the 3-4, he's not going to be a sack machine...

I disagree completely. He will never be a sack machine in the 3-4 but he is great in the run game.

The downlinemen in the 3-4 don't make the plays, they set it up for the LBs to be the playmakers, from what I've heard. As long as the LBs are making plays, the front 3 are doing their job. The glory goes to the LBs in the 3-4.

Spears and Canty are both underachieving this year against the pass and the run. Ratliff and Hatcher are making more plays. Spears actually looks lethargic and heavy to me.

But let's remember that they are both only in their 2nd years...after getting some playing time out of them last year, maybe we expected too much this year. I'm still hoping they'll get it going and gradually get better in their careers.

It seems to me that Spears gets pushed around more than he should, and today I kept seeing our DL men getting stymied at the line and then actually knocked down by OL men. Just one of those days, I guess.

There wasn't a whole lot of glory for anyone in the front 7 today, imo.

look at it this way,...........neither one of them cost us the game.until they cost us games, and still contribute to our wins,I personally would like to keep them!

Ill take that trade over and over again. Jackson had a knee injury and I think that the combination of Spears/Jones has a higher ceiling then Jackson and higher floor as well.

Nothing really shocking here......2 players will usually out-perform 1, unless that is one of the few rare players who dominate week in and week out. Jackson isn't on of the.
