I just have to say that normal teams don't want to talk up potential draftees. If you convince the league you really want someone, you may convince a team to trade up right in front of you and draft him. Anything said at this point in the draft is questionable at best and could be pure misdirection.

I would be stunned if he drops anywhere near Dallas.

Does he really have bad character because of one single incident?

Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but the only issue I have heard of is that he was street racing, the car he was racing against hit a curb and flipped and killed them, and Carter freaked out and left the scene and returned later and was not exactly truthful with the police.

Yeah, it is a horrible accident, but according to the indictment Carter got charged with two misdemeanors for speeding and street racing, not for manslaughter or anything like that.

Should he have been racing or speeding? No, but I cant really be the one to throw stones because when I was younger (before I had kids), I used to drive fast, really fast. Like doing 95 on a toll way regularly.............I never got a ticket because the Police hardly ever patrolled the toll ways back then and they could stop more people who drove fast on the regular roads who didnt want to pay the tolls, but still drove fast.

Did sometimes me and another car both speed at the same time and even though we technically were not racing, neither one of us wanted to get passed by the other so we both would keep going faster and faster? Yeah, that might have happened, maybe.

So, I cant really sit here today and blast Carter as having bad character and is a horrible player and teammate and take him off my draft board when I did things very similar to what he did, the only difference is that I never had an accident, even though thinking back now I see how stupid it was but I was young, single, and didnt have kids back then so I didnt really care. I imagine Carer was thinking the same thing the night of his accident.

He left his friend and teammate to die in a ditch rather than risk facing repercussions for his actions.

There have been other incidents; not publicized but the teams find out about such things.
His so called poor choice left a friend to die.

I call that more than a blip or incident. He was old enough to make the hard call and he was a coward. No thanks.

I don't know if this is true or not, but there are some yellow flags around this guy. Talented or not, if he is immature or a disruptor his talent is negated by the potential problems he could bring to a team. His pro-day should be a caution flag. Teams are going to dig into what happened to him there. They are going to find out things we will not know on draft day. If he falls to 26 then consider taking him that low, but I would not trade up for a guy unless I was certain he is going to be a serious, motivated player right from the start. Albert Haynesworth was talented too.

I'd rather draft high character guys that are good players.
You don't get that choice. Talent comes in all shapes and sizes. Using your ideas, we would never have obtained Haley. Or Newton, Irvin, Casillas, and many others. No super bowls.

That makes me laugh so hard.

Yeah we need thugs and morons and crazies to win it all

Do you ever read what you post?
Well, that's what we've had every time we've won it all.

Haley had a chemical imbalance that was not found out until later. So he actually was not crazy.
You look at those we picked up because they were problems. Tell me how many Lombardi's did we win?

Talent is not everything; some incredibly talented players over the years were not worth what various teams suffered with them.

a thug is a thug; anyone wanting them is an idiot.

Now and then you get some strange types; sometimes they work out and sometimes they don't.

You look at the Raiders teams in the 70's who had the rep for being a bunch of animals and when you look closer that was greatly overblown.
Chemical imbalance is what makes people crazy.

Talent is everything. And sometimes you have to put up w/ some stuff to get it.

Some were not worth it, and some led to super bowls. Works both ways.

I don't know what's in Jalen's head, but if he works and plays hard I want him. If he's lazy, I don't. That simple.

I draw the line at someone who leaves a friend to die. I guess I am being too mean, right?

We just got rid of Randy Gregory and it looks like we should get rid of Joseph as well. We were lucky to not lose Sam Williams.

This thread has gone so far off the rails its now firmly moved into fantasy.

There is a zero percent chance he falls anywhere near what some of you are predicting.

I’ll be shocked if he makes it past 10.

Did the Saints win anything with Davenport?
And they let him sign with the Vikings after his rookie contract expired. Injuries were a real problem for him, but that doesn’t change the fact that there are no guarantees when it comes to the draft. The only protection is to garner more picks. Trading away premium picks to move up is more of a risk. Moving back makes much more sense than moving up.
