The real problem: A shoddy defense

We are sitting here blaming the offense and Bledsoe for yesterdays debacle....but what did we expect with a defense as flawed as ours? Bledsoe did all he could behind a pathetic oline to keep us in the game but we couldn't stop Mcnabb and Hank Basket???

We have no pash rush without blitzing despite all of these so called studs we have in our front seven, and why Zimmer still has a job in this league is beyond my comprehension?

We traded away Shanle and Fujita and both were far better than the bust we took in the 1st round. We are starting a 5th round pick next to Roy Williams. We moved Ellis to linebacker and he was exposed big time in coverage yesterday.

Lets face the reality here...our front office needs to be held accountable sooner or later. We could have had merriman last year and manny the freak lawson this year but these bums blew it! :banghead:

Ooh, a Shanle/Fujita sighting.

I was expecting this much sooner, honestly.

This guy has no clue what hes talking about.

9 guys played great defense yesterday. 2 didn't.

1 of them I know will bounce back and have a great season. The other I dont know that about.

Pat Watkins you are now officially on the Budweiser hotseat.

When was Ellis exposed in coverage? Oh, I guess he was supposed to cover Basskett or be in deep coverage on the flea flicker.

Damn, if we only had Shanle and Fujita we would make fans forget all about the Doomsday Defense, Steel Curtain, Purple People Eaters, Buddy Ryan's Bears ..........

Pat Watkins is directly responsible for 21 points given up....do the math and take away those scores and we win a tough football game on the road.

Seriously Hank Baskett? Our defense made him look like Jerry Rice.

Our defense is overrated and we were exposed big time yesterday....just wait until we go on the road to carolina, ny, washington, etc......we are going to get owned by very good receivers that will make what Hank Baskett did look petty.

We didn't sign the type of players we needed in the offseason to take our defense to an elite level. Ayodele and Carpenter were not the answer!:banghead:

First it was the fault of Ware, Ellis, losing Shanle and Fujita .......

now it's just Pat Watkins .......

yet still the entire defense made Baskett look good ........

Does your mind ever settle into coherent thought?

The defense overall played well enough to win. It was basically two big plays that accounted for around half the eagles passing yards. Yes, we definately shouldn't have given those plays up, but theres going to be broken plays in the course of almost every game.

We are a flawed football team right now especially on the defensive side of the football. We saw it at jacksonville and again yesterday.....and TO has every right to be frustrated for not utilizing his talents or we'd be a 4-0 team.

Look at my post. I gave blame where blame was do.

You went on a tirade and started blaming things that had no business being blamed.

Roy Williams let LJ smith run right by him. I dont have to worry about Roy though that was just a mental mistake. I know what type of player he is and know he'll be fine.

Pat Watkins. I love the guys talent and the way he has played so far UNTIL yesterday.

Both times he gave up big plays he was put in a position to make the play and he didn't. Hopefully it was just a rookie mistake and he gets it together but I just dont trust him like I do Roy.

It's time to call Junior Glymph to task. I mean, granted, he's not on the team anymore, but if he were, we would be better. I can't believe he cut himself.

You didn't notice that the offense was terrible against Jacksonville?
