Time for my annual reminder ...

Rowdy%201.JPG

That's right! Rowdy is the reason!

When did Rowdy become the Dallas Cowboys mascot? 1996 of course!

While all this time, the focus has been on Jerry, Garrett, etc., the real cause has been right there in front of us the whole time .. for the last 20 years .. it's ROWDY!

We need to Get Rid of Rowdy! The warcry is GROR!

Let me hear you GROR!!

:lmao2:

I know, Reality sucks :D

GROR. Dump the Howdy Doody mascot.

I ain't got no problems with Rowdy, he once helped save a young boy's life. Years ago when the Cowboys held their training camp in San Antonio, I took a buddy of mine and his 9yr old son, (hard core Bears fans) to a practice. My buddy hated the Cowboys but thought it would be a cool idea to take him to watch a practice. His son was a big Cutler fan and throughout the practice I kept telling him how much better Romo was. Tony was looking great in practice and his son was starting to notice that.

Practice was just ending and his son got up to go to the men's room, players walked around and signed a few autographs and Rowdy was throwing t-shirts in the crowd. We were only a couple rows up from the field in the endzone and I was taking a photo of Rowdy and Rowdy threw a t-shirt right at me. His son came back a couple minutes later to watch as various players, including Tony and Rowdy were walking away. He looked bummed out, but told him Rowdy gave me a t-shirt to give to him and Tony was gonna sign it but he wasn't there. His son was really excited about the t-shirt, but bummed about missing Tony. On the way out, Rowdy is setup with his quad-runner and taking pics with people, his son went up and got his picture with Rowdy and was thrilled.

A couple days later I see my buddy and he is mad. He starts with "I should kick your *beep*" I'm pretty confused, but my buddy starts to tell me that his son is now a Cowboy fan, he refuses to take his Cowboy t-shirt off, he's taken down all his Bears/Cutler pics and posters from his bedroom walls and begging him to buy him Cowboys stuff and wanting to go to a game, all he talks about is Tony this and Rowdy that. I waited a couple weeks, but dropped off the photo I took with him and Rowdy, framed. He took it school the next day and showed all his friends, they still have that photo hanging to this day. It has only fueled my buddy's hatred of the Cowboys even more and has never fully forgiven me for it, but his son is still a Cowboys fan. Rowdy helped make that happen, so he's all right in my book.
