I live in Baltimore. I'm a huge Cowboys fan. Ray is an icon in this town. I do not think he will be re-signed at this point. All signs point to his departure. I've thought about this long and hard. I know there are alot of mixed feelings in bringing in an aged vet with a checkered history to a fragile locker room. One thing is clear:

Ray is a champion, and has a champion's mentality. Ray is as much of a warrior on the football field as has ever played a down of professional football. Ray never stops. Ray is relentless. Ray is 1000% every play. Ray is real. Ray cares to a fault. Ray's pride is his source of strength. Ray doesn't understand or accept defeat. Ray is the immovable object. Ray's confidence is contagious and he makes the players around him MUCH better than they are individually.

If we can get Ray here- and make no mistake- we will overpay to do this... not only do I think it help this football team now, but he can become the standard by which our next few crops of Rookies learn the game from. Folks, that's invaluable... especially with the psyche of the team as it is currently.

Roll the dice, if Ray will have us... let's welcome him.

totally agree with you. those are the same sentiments that have a good number of us on this board wanting him to come here.

dont know how anyone wouldnt want a a player that plays as hard as ray. the guy isnt just a great football player with a lot of game left in him, hes a motivator as well as a leader. his character and professionalism is contagious. it cant help but rub off on other guys in our locker room

hope he lands here soon:star:

If we can get Ray lewis to Dallas for a 3 year deal that does'nt break the bank I say we jump on it. We don't have a real coach so bring in Ray and he will be the coach on the defensive side of the ball and that will change our whole defensive tone. We will have that knock em out mentality that, this team has been missing for a long time.:star:

Unfortunately... this is the difference with Ray...

With Baltimore: Great leader with some mistakes in the past...

With Dallas: Murderous thug and typical signing for the Cowboys...

Get ready for it... That's the reality of Ray Lewis... ;)

Leadership is the key with Ray, he has what our team needs and all players around him simply play better.

We will need to draft a young guy at LB but NO WAY the drafted player is ready to go regardless.

It is Jerry's money, so many talk about money, Stephen will handle that role just fine.

I think Ray brings a coach and motivator to the club, even at 34, Ray helps this team for 2-3 seasons perhaps to a SB.

If Jerry isn't going to give us coaches who have leadership..give me players that possess it..I'd rather have some than none.

Great post!!!. I've wacthed this guy ever since he was a freshman at the U, he dosent accept anything less than 100 percent from him and everyone else. He's not afraid to get in guys grills and let them know the truth. Trust me when I tell you the ravens defense will take a considerable nosedive in intensity without. You just can't put a pricetag on the intagibles he brings to the table. I said we need ray after losing to the giants in the playoffs two years ago. Let's go get him.

So what contract dollars is acceptable? Channing Crowder just got 3 year $20 million, so what does an aging leader go for?

the reality is that cowboys doesn't have the money to pay ray ray what he demands, especially if the cowboys is trying to work out a longterm deal with ware.

Although you may very well be right, with the $4 million in added cap space in 2009 plus the possibility of Ellis, RLW and Johhnson being released that will free up quite a bit of cash.

Henry may be asked to restructure or possibly others so the money alone may not be the only matter. Stephen can do wonders as we all know so it really depends on how bad Jerry wants the guy.

I don't see Ellis being released this off-season.

We may all like Spencer, but until we see a bit more from him, I think we'll keep Ellis to help with the pass rush and as insurance.

IMO if we sign him he'll be this seasons Zach Thomas. He'll be brought in to provide leadership and it won't work because of lack of leadership above him. Players will tune him out when all they have to do is go to Jerry and complain.

Overpaying for a 34yr old ILB on the major downswing is never a smart move.

With that said, I just fail to see where bringing him here is going to suddenly offset the major weakness that this coaching staff, and particularly Wade has. The players dont feel accoutnable to the coaching staff and have an open door to Jones, none of that will change by adding Ray Lewis.
