The Reason I Want to Draft Antoine Cason

The COMBINE will decide which CB goes first. 40 time and the rest will do it.
Actually, there are no world beater CBs this year anyway. Have not been for a while. I was a big Justin King fan before the season- but he has NOT played well. Should stay for his senior year and prove this was just a bad year.

I remember you being real high on Willis (ILB) and he looks like he really panned out...do you have another ILB in mind that we might be able to snag with the 2nd 1st rounder or in the 2nd rnd

There isn't anyone I like as much as I liked Willis.

The guy who will get all the attention is James Laurinaitus from Ohio State. He is the son of former professional wrester Animal from the Road Warriors. He is 6'3, 244 pounds and is a devestating tackler. It is hard to say he has a weakness but here goes my best shot. He is nowhere near as fast as Willis. He's a Junior, so he would have to declare for the Draft to even be considered.

The only other LBs who are 1st round kind of guys are all OLBs. Keith Rivers of USC, Dan Connor of Penn State, and Ali Highsmith of LSU. The other ILB prospects are all way below 1st round status IMO. The only other guy who intrigues me is Jonathon Goff of Vanderbilt and that's because he's so big. I like Vince Hall of Va Tech's speed, but in coverage he is a liability.

Slim pickings at ILB on 2008. IMO.

FWIW, I checked 4 different draft sites and they all have Cason rated 20 to 25. So he could be there. The Combine will be his true scale.

My favorite LB in this Draft will be Spencer Larson from the University of Arizona. He reminds me of Zach Thomas. The scouting services do not recognize him yet, but I can tell you that he was the motor for the Wildcats Defense in 2007. Has a great nose for the football and great tackling mechanics. A steal in round 3 IMO.

This is a synopsis of the Arizona upset of Oregon where Donald Dixon got hurt.

At about 1:10 you will see Antoine Cason pick off a ball and return it for a TD. Then right after this you can see him return a punt for a TD.

IMO the 2 best players for Arizona.

BTW, I love the way Jonathon Stewart runs. You'll see why.
 
I hate to say this but after the Combine, I think his stock will rise, he maybe gone before 15th overall pick.
 
This may be off the topic of Antoine Cason. I know that we like to talk these big names in the draft and first rounders, the talent goes so deep into the draft its finding the right guy systematically(sp?). Looking at the cowboys the positions some these guys were drafted at. Im talkin how many second day draft picks. The talents still goes deep into the late rounds and we've been able to find the right players. Jerry never seems to disappoint on draft day. It feels nice have a BUILT team at 12 -1!

Cant wait for the combine to see what kind of sleepers come out of some not so familar programs.

Malcomb Jenkins will be top 15 All Ohio State kids run very well in testing. I think Cason will pick up steam once scouts go back and analyle the tape. He will move ahead of Talib who is a bigger CB but is also a little slow.(4.55 Range) He is move of a cover 2 roll up type CB.

Cason on the otherhand will run sub 4.5 and will be the #2 CB in the draft. He played in the pac-10 so he saw alot of high powered passing offenses. Plus Arizona runs the same attacking style defense that oklahoma runs, so he played in man coverage almost exclusively. The only way we can get Cason is for him to not run sub 4.5 or have only 1 CB go in the top 20. I can't see only one CB going in the top 20.

Personally I always like to take the best player available as long as it makes since. I mean if Andre Woodson (QB Kentucky) is on the board we obviously wouldn't do that. But some other possibilities are Rashard Mendenhall, Jonathan Stewart, DeSean Jackson, Early Ducet, If the coaches are not pleased with Spears, Maybe a guy like Calais Campbell 6'8 280 to play opposit of Canty,or perhaps a franchise LT prospect like Michael Ohers all of these picks make since and would fit nicely.

I would pesonally hope we waite on RB to round 2-3 since there will still be quality talent... Chris johnson (ECU 4.26), Kevin Jones (UCF Stud),Mike Hart Mich (Very solid),Patrick Allen, Tashard Choice (Solid). All of thes guys can be solid #2 RB's maybe more! If we are not able to secure a long term deal with Barber at a resonable price then we would have a young RB ready for 2009 and beyound
 
Hey hes had some subpar drafts (thanks campo) its true. But he built a dynasty with the draft (thanks vikings). And I was trying to point out how many starters we have on a 12-1 team that were picked in the second day of the draft, as well as undrafted fa.

You can see the complete draft history on NFL.com 00/01 deffinately have some head scratchers lol. I'd say overall Jerry's done well with the draft.

I wouldn't move up for phillips. FS is not a huge priority because Hamlin has played well and he is only 26 years old. The cap# for a top 15 player won't be much cheaper that what Hamlin will demand in Free agency. So I would resign Hamlin and get 3 for 1... Hamlin, Pick #22 overall, and pick #31 overall vs just having Kenny Phillips. Now I will tell what I would be interested.

I live in Tennessee, I hear that the Titans will franchise Haynesworth. The compensation for signing a non-exclusive franchise played is 2 1st round picks. I will give them #31 overall and next years #1 for Haynesworth and Still draft at #22 this year. So imagine getting Cason and Haynesworth for 2008. I know its farfetched but I think Haynesworth is dominanat and Would upgrade NT. Since tank is playing for the minimum I would keep him too. But Ferguson is getting old anyway so I would release him and Move Ratliff back to DE to play spears' spot and release Spears too.

I wonder if Haynesworth increased play has anything to do with the fact that hes in his contract year.

He is a monster but I cant forget what he did to Gurode last year with the stomp. Didnt he get the longest suspension for an "on field" incident with 5 games after that last year.

I can't believe thats not braught up more. It seems like if it were anyone else it would be blown way out of proportion such as tank. I dont know how you all feel about that

#1 stay away from Haynesworth. He's your classic contract year player and some team will make the mistake of giving him big money and he will return to being an averege player. #2 Why cut Spears? Yeah he's not a big time pass rusher, but he's still cheap and there isn't a need to cut him.
 
Cason is a top 10 pick. We're not gonna get him with the Cleveland Pick (~25). We would have to trade up with both 1st round picks in order to get him.
