The reason we did not draft a RB,

Sorry, but that's a rather ridiculous concept if true. There's a reason why Romo had one of his best years last year and that was because he didn't have to do it all. If we start going back to a pass first offense then I feel bad for Romo because we're going to become very one dimensional.

You're embarrassing yourself. The Cowboys must have some historic talent to put up the numbers they do every year with middle school level schemes.

Well we have the most productive QB in Cowboy history, a HOF TE, and we've usually had a stud #1 receiver that was top 5 at worst in the NFL.

We're not going to stop running the ball.

We'll hammer the ball with McFadden, he'll outplay Murray, and we'll all laugh.

OK if everyone takes off their homer glasses and looks at the big picture they may see more than they want to see. Again, I am not endorsing this philosophy but if you look at the histories of both our HC and OC it has some merit. It also answers why they did not address RB in the draft. Personally, I hope I am wrong but rather than just think one year has changed the team completely, I am looking at the big picture and the histories of those in the decision making process.

I agree.
I won't laugh. I will celebrate!

I think he has chomping at the bit to have a chance to shine!!

No way we're getting away from the run. We had the most balanced offense of Romo's career last season, and now we're looking to have the most balanced team of his career. We just had enough confidence in our O-line that we thought we'd be okay with what we have. It may or may not work out, but that's just the way it is. We know the O-line is our strength and that everything flows through the O-line. That's why we spent 2 picks trying to improve the O-line even more.

People point to the Pats not putting much value into the RB position and thats fine, it works for them. Dallas' strength is their line and it's ability to push people around. That should be the teams identity with a back to go with it, there is question marks on all the current rostered rbs and it's a reasonable concern to bring up about being able to play up to their strength. If you could project Mcfadden for 16 games and Randal to keep his nose clean people would relax, but you can't so worriers are gonna worry and thats fair enough.

I am not arguing about what you say because it definitely has merit but our OC and HC have typically been pass first guys. I believe our defensive weaknesses dictated how the games were called not Romo's issues. If you look at things in that light my thoughts make sense.

Everyone this is not an argument. I am either wrong or right, either one we will quickly see early in the season. I am only going on a hunch based on both the histories of our OC and HC. Their lack of drafting a RB adds some, not absolute, credence to this thought but I sincerely hope I am wrong.

DeMarco Murray and the offensive line was the defensive MVPs of the Dallas Cowboys last season.

If you could run to protect a bad defense, why wouldn't you still run even if you had a great defense?

If you can keep your defense off the field, why wouldn't you?

Careful there… You're going way over the head of a lot of posters in this forum.

Nah, we're running the ball. That's what we do and it works.

I think Murray made Romo's game so much easier it isn't even funny. I don't care how much the NFL has changed, if you have a great ground game, your going places with or without a great Defense. I also think Murray is going to be missed. These other backs don't have what he had. Don't get me wrong, I think Murray can be replaced but not with his backups. McFadden might but i'll have to see it first...We never should have let Murray go but that just my opinion...

You make an excellent point but actions speak louder than words. Defense is quite obviously one on the main reason we ran first even though we had both a pass first OC and HC last year. Actions shows they would rather pass first than run the ball when Garrett was running the offense an Linehans history shows the same thing.

OMG is the homerism strong with this fan base. I am not a rose colered Cowboys homer. like most on this forum who are blinded by the truth, but I will continue to call it like I see it.

Murray ran for 85 first downs last year. We need to make those up somehow, or big chunk of them at least.

Their lack of drafting a RB or signing a legit veteran is because Jerry finally got McFadden. Full stop.

As always, he needs to be the most cleverest guy in the room and he got his toy he wanted so many years ago.

Two reasons why we didn't select a RB in this year's draft:

1) The two no-brainers were already off the board and the Cowboys addressed more pressing needs with their picks after that ship sailed.

2) They've invested a lot of time, energy and money into who is on the roster now; and now it's time for them to play.
