Even though we lost that game horribly, does anyone else think that plays like that were exactly the kind we needed during the season? I've never seen TO so open before in any game. Perhaps Garret can include this type of play more next season.

It worked so well I thought it was a practiced play. It obviously wasn't the called play, but the way they executed it looked like Witten was expecting the ball from Romo and TO was expecting the ball from Witten. Had they won, it would've gone down as a great play in Cowboys playoff history, but because they lost, it probably won't be mentioned much.

They needed trickery this year but stubbornly refused to fool anyone but themselves. At least Parcells would pull out the fleaflicker two or three times a season.

Actually we ran a number of reverses and such and they didn't work. The reason this probably worked was because it wasn't on tape for the defenses to watch for. The next time they tried to run it, it probably wouldn't look so open.

i personally think it was just by chance that it happened. Romo broke a tackle, threw to his safety net, and witten was smart enough to know that he could still throw it.

Well, it wasn't a "playoff" game either. :)

kill, kill, kill............... is what kills our trick plays!

Our offense was sooooo pathetic. It makes me sick to see other teams with lesser talent producing more. :bang2:

Garrett failed to accept that defenses would double team and spy T.O. every game. You would think after a few games they would use this to our advantage.

That play had to have been designed. Why else would Witten have been behind the line of scrimmage?

It was a good call. But, like so many calls this year, even that play almost got blown up b/c the pressure from the dline penetrated farther, faster than they were supposed to.

It wasn't. Witten talked about it in his post game comments.

Really? Wow. I missed that.
Any explanation for why he was behind the line of scrimmage? Did he just see the play bust and drift backwards? If so, that's pretty damn impressive on Witten's part.

IIRC, the three of them came up with it during the game. It was designed on the spot, so to speak.

Romo and Witten drew it up during on of their secret meetings and then shared it with TO. :D

Yep, the three of them drew it up in the dirt.

How freaking pathetic is Garrett that the best play of the game was drawn up in the dirt by the QB, TE, and WR.

How anybody can still defend Coach Tecmo is beyond me, I would just as soon let Romo call all the plays on the field, he certainly couldnt do any worse and we save $3 mill.

Max protect missed his block or let him go when Romo scrambled, broken TE screen, there's plenty of ways

That play was an embarrassment...

I think this is a little misleading. You don't need more "trickery" to keep your offensive playcalling from being predictable. You just need to...well...make your offensive playcalling less predictable.

I think Garrett learned a hard lesson this season, and I think he'll take it to heart. He is an intelligent guy who succeeded playing chess against himself in 2007 and had his first run-in with the game tape review and scheme adjustment speed of the NFL in 2008.

If he doesn't learn to keep defenses off-guard with his playcalling, whether they involve "trickery" or not, our offensive weapons will go unused.
