The Roy Excuse Thread

I know, I know...it's another Roy thread, but to sum up all the Roy threads, I figured I'd start this thread to help out everyone.

For his few remaining supporters, you can add your theory as to why his play has declined, and for all the nay-sayers, you can post the excuses which make you crazy or you're tired of hearing.

So I got this right, here is Roy's (and his fans) Excuse Book. Feel free to add your own:

1. No Pro Bowl Caliber FS (post-Woody, pre-Hamlin of course)
2. Not Close to the LOS
3. Parcell's Defense didn't fit him
4. Wade's Defense doesn't fit him
5. The #31 no longer fits him
6. He's uneasy when QB's throw in his direction
7. It's Aaron Glenn's fault
8. Fans just don't understand coverages
9. Couldn't read until his Senior year in HS. (For the record, I'm no faulting him for this, but come on, that was 9 years ago)
10. It's Jean Jacque Taylor's fault
11. Not good at Cover 2
12. Not good in open space
13. It's your fault
14. It's my fault
15. Not good with his back to the LOS
16. "That's why corners get paid the big bucks." (interesting comment coming from the highest paid player on defense)
17. Cut him slack, he's lost his confidence
18. Media's too hard on him
19. Fan's are too hard on him
20. Quick, name a better SS...
21. What SS can cover a TE or RB? (given this reasoning, why even have the position?)
22. It's Jacques Reeves's fault
23. It's Greg Ellis's fault for calling him out publicly
24. It's the LB's fault for not dropping deep enough into coverage
25. He was great in his rookie year (SIX seasons ago, btw), so why he can't he turn it around?
26. It's anti-Sooner bias
27. ...

The NFL made a rule which took away his biggest weapon.

He found religion and is too busy to play football.

He is trying to maintain his energy for the playoffs.

He is too distracted by his long sleeves.

- Bill Parcells didn't use him right
- The corners weren't doing their job right
- Its hard playing against teams with quarterbacks like Jeff Garcia, Mcnabb, Jason Campbell, and the dreaded Mark Brunell
- That wasn't Roy that was Hamlin
- Everyone was playing zone when they were supposed to play man to man, Roy was the only one doing it right.
- Wade Phillips reminds him of Poppin' Fresh and he was getting hungry for croissant.
- Hes trying to get cut so he can play with John Kitna
- He didnt want to show everyone he lost some speed, so he decided not to intercept the ball
- He got confused and thought he was Roy Williams the wide receiver, ran into the endzone and kept waving his hands

Roy's name was in the title, and you decided to read it. There's also a neat little trick where you move the cursor over the thread title and it lets you read the first few lines of said thread.

So, that's on you.

Seriously?

When he's finally and permanently moved to the bench or off of the team, and his cap figure can be used on players who deserve it.
