Can we depend on Julius Jones if we are going to make a serious run at a title?
I think it's time we took a hard look at the running back situation, I really can't see us going into the season with the same collection of backs we have now. I don't feel there's room on this roster for MB3, JJ and TT and I'm going to make a bold prediction:
Julius Jones won't be a dallas cowboy in 2006
The reason I feel this way is that I think that JJ and Parcells are cooking something up for a potential trade. He has talent but he's too fragile and I'm sick and tired of him being injured. He lacks toughness and isn't dependable, and when you play for a coach like Parcells that's not a good thing. The season is 16 games plus another potential 3 or 4 in the playoffs. So why keep a guy on this roster that we can't even count on for more than 8 games in a season? He's part of the reason that Bledsoe took a lot of hits and the pass protection was unbearable at times. Also he drops the ball a lot and we need a back that can make plays out of the backfield in the passing game if we are going to go anywhere.
Marion Barber the 3rd is more than proven he can move the chains and handle the job full time. He is also the better blocker/receiver. Also Tyson Thomson is a solid prospect and could be good compliment to MB3
I think we should trade JJ for a 2nd round pick right now and wash our hands clean right now while we can get value for him. In fact we should inquire about a pontential trade package involving JJ and Henson if we sign Harrington.
We can draft another back in the later rounds to develop or sign a veteran or young back cut from another team during training camp.
Any thoughts?
