I was watching Talking Cowboys and it almost appears ridiculous how they all basically wanted everyone back next year.

I'll be upset if we don't have at least 50 percent turnaround in The Eight.

I'll let Marinelli decide what he wants to do with Spencer, but Selvie should be gone, and Hayden should be gone. Similarly under a new deal I'd let Marinelli decide what he wants to do with Melton who should have a full offseason this year. That said we can't forget about Okoye and his potential contributions. Terrell McClain should be gone, and Josh Brent should probably be gone as well.

If you aren't Crawford, Lawrence, or Mincey, you should probably be gone. And Mincey should be our 4th defensive end by the end of things. Crawford should probably be our 2nd or 3rd best defensive tackle.

I don't want Suh, and think it is pretty silly of people to want him. Unlike Josh Gordon who I suggested would be okay to "rent", you'd have to make a long term commitment to a guy like Suh. I wouldn't mind getting any other linemen from Detroit, but would prefer to pick some pieces up from Buffalo. We should definitely come away with one of their defensive ends. JPP is also an option. I'd love to see what Marinelli could do with JPP.

My thinking on this is you'd want to do the following

Draft a defensive end high and draft a 1 technique fairly high, you'd also want to bring in a free agent defensive end pretty high, but going into the draft without adding a free agent defensive end.... would be a tragic mistake, just as it was this year.

1. Free Agent DE
2. Lawrence
3. Rookie DE
4. Mincey

The one position we need to splurge on a bit in free agency is defensive end.

I pretty much agree. Crawford, Mincey, Lawrence, and maybe Spencer, depending on the price. Everyone else is a dime a dozen in this league.

I don't know what Josh Gordon would do in Dallas. We already have a #1 WR, #1 TE and a decent #2 WR. We need to STICK to RUNNING the ball. $$ to Gordon is wasted IMO.

Maybe a pipe dream but Suh legitimizes this defense. He's hot temper and plays dirty at times but talent is irrefutable. We need a proven commodity from FA for the DL. Rookies typically do not make much impact as their bodies just aren't ready for the NFL.

We also have Bishop, Coleman and Gardner on the squad and will have a full season with off season strengthening. Drafting to add to the DL talent is a must. With a pass rush the back end will look better as well since they won't be giving Rodgers 7 sec to pick them apart.

I think that is more of an indictment of our lack of talent amongst the front four.

Craig

He is the poster child of what Marinelli wants...unselfish, heart and hustle...he is kind of the Bill Bates of the DL, not a lot of talent but goes 100 MPH every snap and that is something you need for the young players, a vet that is example of what the coach wants.

I understand wanting high effort guys on the roster and every team needs a guy like that. With that being said, if this team wants to take it to another level it will have to replace Hayden with someone with more talent. Hell, I appreciate the effort that Hayden has shown in his time here but it is time to move on if this team wants to compete in the trenches.

I say bring everyone back to training camp and then let it all sort itself out. There will be plenty of new draft piks, FA signing almost gauranteed by Stephen yesterday as he mentioned pass rusher as the strongest need.

Bingo. No reason not to bring current players back to camp aside from Melton. I'd even try to resign most of the free agents on the cheap -- Spencer, in particular, assuming he's getting back to full health.

If they were willing to pay a healthy Melton 9m, they should have no problem paying Suh 12m. People downplaying his impact probably just don't like him personally, which I understand, but his talent is unequaled.

Crawford needs a backup who is as good or better than him,we need to draft a 3 tech pretty early imo.

You have to remember we have Bishop and Coleman inside and Boatright and Gardner outside and J. Crawford who can do both that fit into the mix as well.

Ideally only 2 of the players above are good enough to make the roster next year. My guesses would be Bishop and Boatright.
