Ideally only 2 of the players above are good enough to make the roster next year. My guesses would be Bishop and Boatright.
I'd like to see what Gardner can do if healthy

I understand wanting high effort guys on the roster and every team needs a guy like that. With that being said, if this team wants to take it to another level it will have to replace Hayden with someone with more talent. Hell, I appreciate the effort that Hayden has shown in his time here but it is time to move on if this team wants to compete in the trenches.
Craig
I don't want Suh, and think it is pretty silly of people to want him.

Draft a defensive end high and draft a 1 technique fairly high, you'd also want to bring in a free agent defensive end pretty high, but going into the draft without adding a free agent defensive end.... would be a tragic mistake, just as it was this year.
Anyone who wants to sign Ndamukong Suh also wants to bench Tyrone Crawford.
Suh isn't going to sign on to be a NT, he'll be the UT.
And if Suh reaches the open market, the cost to sign him is going to be astronomical.
We have someone named Dez Bryant who needs to be taken care of in this regard.
Agreed.
I thank Nick Hayden for his work and will keep his phone number handy if we have an injury inside during training camp/pre-season and he is still available.
I think he will be.
Stephen Jones has already prioritized addressing the pass rush at the top of the team's "to do" list this off-season.
That means signing a free agent not named Anthony Spencer or George Selvie.
DE must be addressed prior to the draft along with any other glaring holes on the roster.
Dallas must enter the draft with the flexibility to draft any talented player that slides within reach.
We all want to upgrade the defense, but if an outstanding value on offense is on the board, the Cowboys need to be able to act on it.
Address needs during free agency and let the board dictate draft strategy using positional need and position depth as secondary factors.
If you aren't Crawford, Lawrence, or Mincey, you should probably be gone---THAT'S THE FACT JACK !!!!!!!!!!I was watching Talking Cowboys and it almost appears ridiculous how they all basically wanted everyone back next year.
I'll be upset if we don't have at least 50 percent turnaround in The Eight.
I'll let Marinelli decide what he wants to do with Spencer, but Selvie should be gone, and Hayden should be gone. Similarly under a new deal I'd let Marinelli decide what he wants to do with Melton who should have a full offseason this year. That said we can't forget about Okoye and his potential contributions. Terrell McClain should be gone, and Josh Brent should probably be gone as well.
If you aren't Crawford, Lawrence, or Mincey, you should probably be gone. And Mincey should be our 4th defensive end by the end of things. Crawford should probably be our 2nd or 3rd best defensive tackle.
I don't want Suh, and think it is pretty silly of people to want him. Unlike Josh Gordon who I suggested would be okay to "rent", you'd have to make a long term commitment to a guy like Suh. I wouldn't mind getting any other linemen from Detroit, but would prefer to pick some pieces up from Buffalo. We should definitely come away with one of their defensive ends. JPP is also an option. I'd love to see what Marinelli could do with JPP.
My thinking on this is you'd want to do the following

1. Free Agent DE

3. Rookie DE
4. Mincey
The one position we need to splurge on a bit in free agency is defensive end.
I agree that most of those guys aren't special. But I have a hard time seeing how we legitimately upgrade more than one or two of them. I can see one major FA signing and another high pick going to the DL. Other than that (and that's not insignificant), you have to hope Lawrence or maybe one of the rookie late rounders steps forward big time. We might add another mid-bottom tier prospect, but nobody significant enough to expect more from him than we're already getting from the likes of Metlon or McClain or Spencer or Selvie.

Anybody see Mincey like a 3tech? And Crawford at LE
I don't really want to keep playing that game with Crawford. I think he has found his home inside, and should focus the offseason on creating a body fitting that position.
I don't know what Josh Gordon would do in Dallas. We already have a #1 WR, #1 TE and a decent #2 WR. We need to STICK to RUNNING the ball. $$ to Gordon is wasted IMO.
Maybe a pipe dream but Suh legitimizes this defense. He's hot temper and plays dirty at times but talent is irrefutable. We need a proven commodity from FA for the DL. Rookies typically do not make much impact as their bodies just aren't ready for the NFL.
We also have Bishop, Coleman and Gardner on the squad and will have a full season with off season strengthening. Drafting to add to the DL talent is a must. With a pass rush the back end will look better as well since they won't be giving Rodgers 7 sec to pick them apart.
Exactly, Gordan no & if we have to trade let it be for Aldon Smith..Suh is a M.I.A risk, especially in Dallas. Probably would get suspended on must win game! I really want to see Escobar this season.. I think with his speed, somebody has to come off of Dez..
So did Rudy. You can have talent and Hustle. He is the poster child of what Marinelli wants...unselfish, heart and hustle...he is kind of the Bill Bates of the DL, not a lot of talent but goes 100 MPH every snap and that is something you need for the young players, a vet that is example of what the coach wants.
