The same problems we're harping on today existed before TO showed up.

The 2005 Eagles had a few issues not just T.O./McNabb. A theme in the Eagles locker room was the way they squeeze their Veteran players over 30 and when young players like Rod Hood refuses to sign below market Extensions they find themselves on the Bench. On top of that they had a team Ambassador, Hugh Douglass, running around the lockeroom causing trouble. Also, a lot of the Offense players wanted to run the ball more, like they are this year, but Reid was to stubborn to change.

Bull. The Eagles front office has been in place since when, 1998/99? There was never a problem until a certain player arrived. And how you depict the Eagles front office just described every other franchise currently in the NFL.

Hugh Douglass running around starting trouble? With who? He was a player favorite, and City favorite. You think maybe he identified a problem and tried correcting it?

That should tell you something.

I dont either

Owens has some untimely drops, but he hasnt been the reason this team has had a mediocre year again...considering his hand injury, I think he's had a pretty good season

despite what Madden kept harping on the other day ("he's always dropped passes") the fact is didnt drop anywhere near this many balls in Philly the past two years...the injury is the main reason IMO

like the original poster said, the stuff thats been wrong for 3 years in still wrong now...

So the Contract problems with Staley, Taylor, Vincent, Trottier and Runyan mean nothing?. Until the Dawkins signing this year no player over 30 was resigned. They lowballed Runyan and he found there was zero interest in him that's why he came back!.

People tend to tune out that which conflicts with their blind hatred.

BleuStar and TO sittin' in a tree...

Seriously, not to infringe upon your right to free speech and all but are there any regular visitors to the forum that AREN'T aware how supportive you are of TO? Did it really need a whole new adoration thread?

I hereaby grant you the honorary title of "World's Greatest TO Defender". Now go forth in eternal defense of the league's leading pass dropping, pity party generating, ceasseless complaining wide receiver.

Gee thanks.

Now if you will kindly explain to me how these problems which have affected this team long before TO arrived, and apparently will continue to affect the team when he's gone, are to be resolved I will forever be indebted to you.

Well, as you may recall from several of my earlier posts - usually addressed to you - I actually agree with a great deal of your opinions on this. I think Zimmer lacks imagination on defense. I think our play calling has often been too conservative. I think a lot of things - one of which is that TO has been a distraction and although he has caught many TD's this year he has let us down in many, many respects. He has not earned his considerable paycheck and, yes, I personally detest the guy. I think he lacks character and accountability. I think he's a big-mouthed hot shot. And I wish he'd never tainted the star he wears on his helmet. It disgusts me.

But, like I said, I agree that there are other problems that have needed to be addressed for a very long time. Dallas could very well have taken a shot at Champ Bailey back when - nope. I'll never understand why we drafted Carpenter in the first after shipping off Shanle and Fujita...when there were clearly more pressing needs on draft day. I haven't understood Dallas ' draft strategy for years now. Why did we pass on Steven Jackson? Why did we pass on Marcus McNeill (in favor of, to my amazement, another TE)? I know it's a good thing that I'm not in charge of the draft board, OK, so everyone can spare me the "oh, and YOU know better" routine, but you have to admit we've done some pretty strange things on draft day, right?

Quincy Carter in the second, anyone? Tony Dixon in the fourth, anyone?

BleuStar, I think you make some really good points. I really do. But on the issue of TO we must agree to disagree. I cannot stand the guy, and once the season is over - whether a first round loss or with a 6th Lombardy Trophy - I'd really like to see him GONE.

Peace!

What contract problems with Staley,Taylor, Vincent, Runyan, and Trotter? They did not offer the first 3 a contract, and they all played out their original contracts, and made Runyan the highest paid offensive linemen when they signed him back in 98 or 99. Last year he shopped himself around, came back to Philly and signed. Trotter was franchised. Ok, tell me how many players on other teams enjoy getting the franchise tag? Is Philly the only team to use the franchise tag? You're reaching here, actually, you just describe the New England Patriots who seem even more extreme than Philadelphia when iit comes to veterans.

Cutting a player before his contract expires, and back loading the deal so they never reach the big money is another story, Washington specializes in that. Remember Larry Allen? Steve McNair?

Philly's 2005 Ver. was a direct result of injuries and turmoil. This year we have the turmoil, and distractions, but not the injuries. That makes it worse because we don't have an excuse.
