The Scheme Is Not The Issue

First of all... who cares if "Laundry" invented the 4-3 flex or not.... Why should that have any bearing on what defense we run?

That kind of nostalgic crap is plain ********. Run whatever scheme gives us the best chance of winning (which is predicated on the type of players we have).

I think 3-4 gives you more options not less when trying to bring in talent. You can look to the college OLB or Smaller DE like Ware who fit perfect in the 3-4.

In the end the problem for Dallas is not 3-4 or 4-3 it is players and execution.

Grab a top talent Corner in the draft...draft another solid 1 in the early rounds..Get a FS in FA(Michael Griffin) 2nd or 3rd round draft the most athletic Pass rusher or LB you can....

Try to pursue some more FA talent if worth it...and There you have it..a solid young, fast Defense...

Hopefully we get Janoris or Kirkpatrick, 1st round....

Denver went back to the 4-3 this season and look at their success.

I think both the 4-3 and 3-4 have their strengths. Didn't our DL coach come from Carolina where they ran a 4-3?

I like the 4-3 because I think it allows you to have more speed in your front 7. But to each their own.

The Denver defense is called a 4-3, but the position that Von Miller plays looks much more like a 3-4 OLB than a 4-3 OLB.

Von Miller lines up on the line as often as he lines up behind the line. He rushes the passer 1/2 the time or more. How many times did Dexter Coakley rush the passer or line up on the line when Dallas used the 4-3?

DeMarcus Ware has said he loves what he can do in the 3-4 and that he would take it over a 4-3. It also prolongs your career.

That's all I need to know about potentially switching schemes.

.....Maybe so, but if used like Denver uses Van Jones, I'd say equal.

However, in the 4-3 with DT's keeps the Oline of S.Lee his careet would be extented, as well as for Carter if for say he ended at OLB.

This team has no identity.. I can't do a single thing very well.. Every aspect of the team is Mediocre. Steelers, Pats, Giants, Ravens, Packers and Saints know who they are and have a blueprint. Dallas reacts to everyone else. So we are constantly playing catchup. Even Denver recognized who they are.

I see alot of people suggesting we switch defensive schemes and I just don't get it. First of all our players are idiots switching schemes would be way to confusing for their small brains. Second switching schemes won't do anything. The scheme is not the problem it's the lack of talent on the defensive line and the secondary. It doesn't matter whether you have a 4-3 or 3-4 defense if you don't have enough talent you will continue to struggle.

Aren't you the guy who says the defense isn't all that important anyway? :D
