I think we need to take a deep breath, step back from the San Diego game a bit, and realize there's still a long ways to go. The Cowboys are 2-2, the Eagles and Commanders are 1-3, and the Giants are 0-4. The Eagles and Giants play each other next week; and if Dallas loses to Denver, at worst they'll be in a 2-3 tie atop the NFC Least.

Looking further ahead, Dallas still has both games against the Eagles and Commanders to play and another against the Giants. Win all of those games and the Raiders on Thanksgiving, and there's 8 wins. And the Cowboys can certainly beat somebody else in the group of Chicago, Detroit, Green Bay, and Minnesota. There, 9-7 and the division title.

Or am I just being stupid??

The idea is, eventually this team needs to become consistent and today they had a shot at working towards that goal, but they failed. From what we have seen thus far, winning the NFC East doesn't exactly make you a good team this year.

No, I wouldnt say you're stupid, but I'd say you might be pretty content with mediocrity from your football team.

no....you are a positive, glass is half full kinda fan. I admire you in some aspects. But I'm just the opposite. The fact JJ keeps trotting out the SAME garbage every season is on him....don't want to hate him...but I do. Headed for 6-8 wins again........yay

I agree, but this is a thread best left for tomorrow evening, or Tuesay evening, maybe. For now, there's too much venting to be done. I feel a bit like venting, myself. :)

The team is 2 - 2 and likely 2 - 3 after next week. It really seems we are heading for another .500 season again. That could possibly win the NFC (L)East this year but that is because our once great division is pathetic not because our team is any good.

I'm not content with it, but if mediocre wins the division, I'll take it.

There's a gulf of difference between understanding the reality of the NFL right now and being content with mediocre. *All* off us want to be dominating. We're not dominating. We're not going to be dominating. Take dominating off the table. Now, what's next? A. Be methodical about how we stack up against the rest of the league and where we might be headed, B. Complain some more about not being dominating and then take a bow because, as you might like to tell your friends, you 'have high expectations.' I think you're pretty smart to be sticking to option A.

So 8-8 or 9-7 is the tops now under the Garrett admin?

Didnt know the standard got lowered so much....................that being said.................we aint going to sweep the division, we are going to split with at least 1, maybe 2 of our rivals. So we are not winning "all of those games" as you say.

Well said. Couldn't agree more. Maybe I'm just trying to convince myself things might change someday. I'm 35 years old. And I haven't watched the Cowboys play in the Super Bowl since I was a senior in high school. That's just sad.

Meh. Let's face it. Unless they improve dramatically. This team will finish at best 9-7 with a playoff birth due to the fact the rest of the division might be one of the worst in recent memory. Which means we get the joy of watching them go in to New Orleans,Seattle or San Fransico and lose by 30 in a divisional playoff game. IF,they could make it out of the first round game against the WC opponent.

Exactly, if mediocrity is what you are rooting for, this is the team. There is a reason the Cowboys didn't display all their NFCE division banners......the goals are Super Bowls. Of course, the bar has gradually been lowered through the years of futility to just make the playoffs. That is the sad part. Everyone repeat after me, "THANK YOU JERRY".

Speaking of that fraud GM we have...did anyone hear any of the windbag's post game comments? I have not. Just wondering how the # 1 clown was spinning this.

The nfl game now starts and ends with the qb period. You can have a crummy team and great qb and get ten wins year in and year out.....see New Orleans per and during Bree's, Patriots, and Broncos. Those teams are lucky to be .500 without their current qbs. Some teams eventually get tired of the teaser qbs....see 49ers and Alex smith. Heck Alex smith has more playoff wins than romo. If you don't have an elite qb nowadays, you don't have much of a team. Basically it's time to spend some picks on someone at the qb position even if romo starts for another year.
