As always, most everything that needed to be said this week has been said already by someone, or has it? I'd like to start with some humility. We all tend to overreact on Internet sites in some form, even if it's in the form of overly under reacting.
Each day I tell myself I'll think before I post and each day I screw it up, lol. Just this week I basically accused a guy of lying because he said he knows a trainer who said Free has a disc injury in his back. I have battled disc injuries most of my adult life so I know a bit about them, but I don't know it all. So I'm sorry for being a jerk about it when this poster might in fact know what he's talking about.
I wish mostly me but just a little less all of us would remember we don't know it all and take the time to discuss and debate rather than point fingers, argue and accuse. So allow me to say I'm truly sorry for the times I do post quickly, without thinking or while in a bad mood. A friend said it best, you have to love the Internet, where people will say any dumb thing that crosses their mind because there is nobody there to punch them in the fing mouth for it!
You all deserve better and I'm capable of it. Now on with the evaluation...
It's easy to dismiss this game as "it was the Rams dude." But it was much more than that. Last week I talked about execution being the reason we've lost games. Had Romo gotten sloppy or Garrett gotten cocky or the defense become bored, this game might have looked much different. But they did not and everyone (other than Choice) performed very well. At a minimum, this was a sign that this team is taking everyone serious and taking it one game at a time.
Dez, oh man Dez! We and I include most of us in this, forget Dez is barely a 2nd year player, after injuries and the lock out stole much of his development so far. Dez is 22. Think back to Austin, Hurd, Crayton and many others at 22. Rice was 23 his rookie year and 24 before he broke out. Irvin was 25 when he broke out. I can't imagine Dez in 3 years, WOW!
I posted last week I thought Holland could be huge for this team, no pun intended. Naggy is undersized and needs a year or two to gain NFL strength. Holland fixes part of what was broke. Dockery is back next and we've been working out other linemen too. Please, those of you guilty; shut the hell up about Jerry not valuing the line! He does and we are doing a lot about it. I'm telling you right now this line will be very good if they can stay healthy.
Murray is OK but I don't think he can make it in the NFL.
You all covered him well so moving on.
Fiammetta looked great, he's a true lead blocking FB and will make a big difference in the running game if he can stay healthy. The run game is about to improve big time! It was a bad run D but we did everything right. We opened the hole, Fi ran through it and made the block at the next level, Murray ran around him and juked the safety. When the block was a little off, he and Tanner hit the D hard and moved them to gain yards anyway.
We all agree on Free, he is aware of it as are the coaches and they'll get it worked out I'm sure.
Austin should return to form soon, he started great and I think he's got the funk knocked off. Plus teams now have to worry about Dez.
We have two remaining real weaknesses, returns and self destruction, imo. We have room to improve all over but those are the last weak spots. Spencer could bring more pressure but he's playing well over all. We can use more depth at safety but the starters are playing very well. The corners look great, imo. Dockery, who was brought in to start is now depth on the line, Kowalski has done well and we continue to bring in new players for depth. Hatch and Carter are getting healthy.
For those who laughed at Dez, I submit to you he was right. We are unbeatable if we play to our potential. So bring it on iggles, our oline and FB are the best they've been all year. Our receivers are healthy, Romo is healthy, Murray is ready and if you don't know about our D Philly, you will!
The Shocking Truth is I predict a big win this week. Cowboys 27 Dream Team 13. If I'm wrong Hostile and Reality have agreed to dress as iggles cheerleaders and post pics on CZ!
