Mac Davis, Buddy Holly, Waylon and Stevie Nicks are all Lubbockers. And why isn't there a Lub Bock beer?
Good question about the beer.

Waylon is actually from Littlefield, Texas, which is maybe 3 miles or so from Lubbock, although Waylon really got his career started in Lubbock.

I had never heard that about Stevie Nicks. I looked her up on Wikipedia and it didn't mention Lubbock (born in Phoenix and graduated high school in CA). It did say her father was a food company executive that moved around a lot, and indicated El Paso was one of several places they lived, so maybe there were other cities, including Lubbock, that weren't mentioned.

That's where she lived when she joined Fleetwood Mac and she was associated with Buddy Holly, him being the most famous Lubbocker. Lindsay Buckingham actually discovered her and they formed a band that only the Beatles could rival with hits. That first album and Rumours were without equal, imo, of a debut and follow up album. I was actually a fan of the previous Fleetwood Mac with this great song.

I don't mean to be contrary, but this still didn't jive with what was in my head, so I looked closer, and as it turns out, Stevie Nicks was only 10 years old when Buddy Holly died.

I assume Wikipedia isn't always right, but it says Stevie met Linsdey Buckingham when they were in high school in California. I looked at a couple of other Stevie Nicks biographies that said the same thing, and none said anything about Lubbock or Buddy Holly.

Hell if I know, when FM hit it big, the rock stations in DFW would mention her as being from Lubbock so I just took them at that. I've never looked it up but have heard several people associate her with Lubbock and then they would tie in other famous people like Buddy and Waylon, although not connected. Until now, I always thought she was from Lubbock. Thanks, Omer, for bursting my bubble, that was the only reason I liked Lubbock.

I can't stand anything about West Texas, spent 10 months in Midland, worst place I ever lived.
So, you don't like oil either. What kind of Texan doesn't like cattle, oil or cotton? Are you one of them left wing wackos that thinks cow flatulence and oil are destroying the ozone, and cotton represents slavery. :)
