The sound of apathy is deafening

Over the past few years I would have gotten much more angry with a loss like the Seattle one. But after the poor coaching over the years it's something that I just expect. When a fan base stops getting angry because they are used to losing, the owner should listen twice as hard. Basically we are told to trust Jerry, well Jerry, you have beaten the fan base down to a point of just not caring enough to get upset.

Congrats Jerry. You've beaten the life out of us. I've been a huge fan for the past 40 years and it's the first time I'm just past getting angry. We knew that this team would let us down like all of the ones under JG. If you don't do something to change things the fan base will become less and less passionate. Just listen to how quite this forumn is when it should be full of passionate people upset. Instead they expect the product that you have been putting out on the field so it wasn't a surprise.

This has been me for the past 5 seasons or so, with the exception of last season when Dak caught fire. No emotional reaction at all really, just like you said - it's what I've come to expect.

It's been 20+ years. A kid now at the age of 25-28 wouldn't even recall the last time the Cowboys had any type of success.

I have been a fan for more than 40 years, also...my biggest fear at this point (even beyond becoming apathetic) is not seeing another Cowboys SB championship in my lifetime. I always KNEW we'd be back as one of the league's elite franchises, but now, frankly, I'm not so sure. I hate having this level of doubt...are we going to be like Cubs and Redsox fans for all those years before the finally lifted the curse? Disgusted...

I assume Jerry is going to go with Dak next year no matter what, but another year of the league defenses being able to scheme Dak into mediocrity is going to leave the Boys in a deep hole.

I've been a fan ever since Super Bowl 12 when the Cowboys defeated the Broncos and went on to see three more Super Bowl championships.
I can't wait until you younger fans experience the thrill of watching your Cowboys hoist a Lombardi.
When ever that might be.

I mean I would have to say I was more upset after 2014

He would have hired a real GM and stepped back and let football people run the on field aspect of operating a team as well.
It's not even that. Jerry can keep the silly title, the actual talent level here should be consistent wild card level annually with above average coaching. Right now out of JG, Linehan and Rod, I'd bet only Linehan is given a coaching opportunity if they all were canned.

We are approaching the Marvin Lewis level of NFL average, but I don't want it to last the 15 Yeats or whatever they suffered through.

I thought we turned the corner with Jerry when he hired Parcells. Didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped with him being near the end of his career and not having his usual assistants available. But we had much better drafts and he got us out of the basement to the playoffs and primed to make a run.

But once he left and Jerry made the not 'having to walk on eggshells anymore' comment, hired Garrett as OC before we had a HC and then hiring a proven HC failure like Wade, I knew we were back to business as usual. Turns out the hiring of BP wasn't Jerry coming to his senses but more about Jerry being desperate for a quick fix to get the team back to respectability so he could gain public support for the new stadium.

Once Wade hit bottom and Jerry just promoted HC-in-waiting Garrett, our only chance was to get lucky. But Garrett was never going to be the answer and even had OC duties removed from him.

We're just in no-man's land. Never good enough to seriously contend, not bad enough to trigger significant change. And bottom-line is Jerry doesn't care as long as he's making money and comfortable.

I agree, I wasn’t as upset this year as in years past. I expected it too. There were many red flags shown this season that told me they were once again irrelevant. It is sickening to think just a year ago we thought our future was very bright. I’m doubtful now.

Jerry hasnt listened to anyone for years, if he did, Garrett would have been gone in 2015

JG should never of been hired to be an OC, let alone a HC. He has been in over his head from day one.

A guy like Kyle Shanahan paid his dues for 20 years learning for his Dad and Kubiak before going off on his own to be an OC.

Other coaches like Sean Peyton learned under guys like BP, before moving up through the ranks.

Not JG, his mentor is Jerry Jones!

I gave up living and dying by the Cowboys when they fired Landry.

Jerry is going to Jerry.
The fans will fan.
The players will play.
And there will be wins and loses.

Guaranteed!
