The sound of apathy is deafening

I love the blind squirrel fallacy.

Just hoping based on the odds that eventually Garrett will get lucky enough to not only have winning season (which he can only do 50 percent of the time) but also win 3-4 games in a row against playoff caliber teams...

When everything falls just right with the schedule, injuries etc JG will do well in the regular season but thats about it.

My prediction is that Stephen will be more delusional than his father. Jerry and Stephen have already made stupid statements like "Stephen grew up around football" so they believe he's even more qualified. Yeah we should let a surgeons son operate and let an astronauts son pilot the next moon landing

This is a family of delusional morons

Look at how good his son is. Stephen definitely a football man.

Me and my uncle were talking about this on Thanksgiving. He will be 50 here soon and I'm 33. He saw all their success. I saw the 90s but was young. But still remember it. He used to have his weeks ruined if Dallas lost. Now he just shrugs his shoulders and moves on. Same as me. This probably started for me after the 2008 finale against Philly. The 44-6 game. After that, I just can't muster up any energy to let these mediocre seasons get to me. Jerry is a terrible owner and GM and has ran this storied franchise into the ground.

Over the past few years I would have gotten much more angry with a loss like the Seattle one. But after the poor coaching over the years it's something that I just expect. When a fan base stops getting angry because they are used to losing, the owner should listen twice as hard. Basically we are told to trust Jerry, well Jerry, you have beaten the fan base down to a point of just not caring enough to get upset.

Congrats Jerry. You've beaten the life out of us. I've been a huge fan for the past 40 years and it's the first time I'm just past getting angry. We knew that this team would let us down like all of the ones under JG. If you don't do something to change things the fan base will become less and less passionate. Just listen to how quite this forumn is when it should be full of passionate people upset. Instead they expect the product that you have been putting out on the field so it wasn't a surprise.

SIgned, a long term fan
This thread really struck a note for me and, at the risk of beating a dead horse, this season was a "perfect storm" for me.

Maybe my expectations were simply too high -- and not just for the Cowboys, but for the entire NFL. Beginning with the 2017 draft and Drew Pearson's call to arms, through training camp and the pre-season, I was really looking forward football on Sunday. For whatever reason, I have struggled to get into Thursday night football and, to be honest, the Monday night games never really held any special meaning. Oh, but Sunday certainly did -- the combination of a family gathering and feast made for a special day.

Unfortunately, the spark just wasn't there this year. The combination of poor officiating, the "stop/start" nature of the game from advertising time-outs, the drama and angst associated with kneeling and, of course, the NFL vs Zeke and the NFLPA. Except for the Zeke situation, everything else is long-standing issues. Notice, I didn't even mention JJ or JG. I guess I have grown immune to the FO nonsense. In the end, I didn't watch a single non-Cowboy's game and probably only watched about 2/3's of the Cowboy's games live. And, you know what, I really didn't miss the game. I certainly missed the "family feel" to the Sunday afternoon games, but not the game itself.

The sad thing, at least for me, is I really don't expect much to change next year and, to a large degree, I have made my peace with that.

I will continue to follow and watch with anticipation, the Dallas Cowboys. To recapture this fan's unbridled enthusiasm, though, I would like to see a number of fundamental changes in the Cowboys. Most of these have been mentioned endlessly on other threads -- jettison the current coaching staff, revamp the receiving corp, continue the defensive re-build. To be fair, I do think the Cowboys are doing some things right -- drafting has certainly improved over the past few years and, I believe, the organization is much better at managing the salary cap (although, if you listen to Steven Jones, the salary cap is never an issue).

This email is a bit of a catharsis for me... there is nothing new here, just a fan venting a bit of frustration. Thanks for listening

We've missed the playoffs 7 of the last 10 years.

It makes us numb. This year was a major breaking point for me. I no longer invest much time in football, nor the Dallas Cowboys. Won't be purchasing any merchandise this year, going to any games, etc. I'm cutting it off.

I hear you brother! I'm hoping Jerry gets word of this as well. I doubt it will make a difference but he should know how long term fans feel based on his decisions.
