You've simply wrong if you think at 26 he still has the jets he once had, he doesn't and we all see it, hard to believe you don't.

So the last two seasons his worst averages and no long runs,
You do realize we played pretty much all last season with a broken OL and a backup QB, right? Every team we played after Dak went down stacked the box against us.

Um no. Track races have never been measured in yards. The 100 yard dash is a middle school field day event.

Up until 1976 everything in the USA was 100 yards so you are wrong. Hell. Bob Hayes held the world record at 9.1.

Where did you get that idea at? Jesse Owens won the USA Nationals running 9,4 for 100 yards.

Hayes sets 100-yard dash world record

June 21, 1963

Bob Hayes, a sturdy running back/sprinter from Florida A&M, runs 9.1 seconds in the 100-yard dash not once but twice at the AAU national track and field championships in St. Louis.

However, only Hayes' performance in the semifinals is allowed to stand as a world record. That's because the wind was 7.75 miles per hour in the final, above the allowable 4.473 mph for record consideration.

Running with his elbows out and his knees uncommonly high, the thick-shouldered, thick-muscled Hayes bolts into the lead at the start of the semifinal. The 20-year-old senior-to-be turns it up another gear in the middle 50 yards and breaks the world record of 9.2 seconds set by America's Frank Budd in 1961 and tied by Canada's Harry Jerome (twice) in 1962.

There's no denying that Zeke's production has waned in recent years but so has the blocking of the Cowboys' OL. He still retains the power that he's been known for, however. The staff has reduced his touches with the idea that they want to maximize his contributions later in the year. It seems that Pollard will be taking up the slack that's been created by the reduction of Zeke's touches. He's had an undeniable downturn in the last several years in his production, especially late in the season. We'll see if more rest helps his performance later this season. That's the plan. He's not going anywhere, that's for sure. o_O

Probably been brought up by another poster, but i believe it had been reported that Pollard wa feeling ill from either stomach virus or food poisoning and not at top of his game, which he followed up with a 4.37 clocking at his Pro Day workout at Memphis campus.

Google his early days highlights, we aren't seeing that now.

Just watched his rookie season highlights. Two things stood out to me. First is the blocking of the OL, TEs and receivers. Zeke had so many good holes to run through, against everyone. Leary, Frederick and Martin were awesome in the middle. Tyron Smith was great at LT and Free was underrated on the right sight. The Cowboys don't have that dominance on the OL anymore. Plus the receivers and TEs cannot block in the run game.

Zeke also had the quickness and speed to cut outside and outrun the defenders to the edge. There was no hesitation. Today you can see, he cannot get outside anymore. Even on the pitch out in the Bucs game, he had open field to the pylon. In his rookie season he goes outside and outruns the defender to the goal line. In his rookie season he would have made that Bucs defender miss.

But I will say that Zeke does look a little quicker and speedier than he did last year. He just needs to trust his speed now. On that play against the Bucs, he hesitated and that gave the Bucs defender the opportunity to bring him down easily. If you watch Pollard run, he doesn't hesitate. He sees the hole and uses his burst to get though it.

Nope, the guy has without question lost some of his jets, totally obvious. But, he can still be effective.as is. He's faster right now than Emmitt ever was,

Good luck getting this jokers to admit that one need not be a world class sprinter to be a good NFL running back. Zeke is probably faster now than Derrick Henry is.. but he's not 255 pounds and getting untouched into the secondary because his line is whipping people 8-10 times a game. They also don't get that 90% of the corners in the league run 4.4 or better so if your plan is to outrun them you better run 4.3 .. which very few running backs do.. The task becomes to get yard WITHOUT winning a footrace.. Zeke is very good at that.. That's why he's a good running back. Aside from his impressive blocking skills and very high football IQ et al.

"You're"? :huh:
I explain to you, speaking text One more time I have nerve damage neuropathy from the military. My hands stink when I type. I rely on speak in text. You just have to look past my punctuation in some words. Even after I proofread Google changes some of my wording

Yes, that explains why he's been able to make defenders look like their practically standing still when he gets those long runs! :)

I understand. Thank you for clarifying.

I'd liek to see him catch more passes....he is extremely effective when he doesn't have to step around defense in the backfield.

I realize it's pretty challenging to get him on the receiving chart....but....a LITTLE more?

Most people know this about me and they let it go. A lot of new people give me a hard time I just can’t keep explaining it. They’re going to have to live with it LOL

The only way Riggins ran 9.8 or Henderson ran 9.5 was if the race was 100 Yards not the standard sprinting distance of 100 meters. Ben Johnson broke the 14 year world record in the 100M back in 1983 with a time of 9.93. Usain Bolt the greatest of all-time never ran a 9.5 flat. Where are you getting these times? :lmao:

You are the track fan. You should know better.

Um.. he DID say they races were yards.. That was the standard back then..

4.4 is cooking for a running back

Zeke

A Missouri state high hurdles champ in HS, thinking he won it four times.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
John Riggins twice the Kansas State 100 yard champ a 9.8 guy, also won the long jump, over 22 feet. Obviously he was lighter in those days. Did see a video, dude was yoked.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Remember our old DB Mel Renfro, well he was a running back and a stud 13.7 hurdler and a 25-10 long jumper. Scored at the NCAA helping Oregon win the meet. He also ran a leg on a world record 4x1 team at Oregon, very rare for a college to pull that off. Also on that team Jerry Tarr and Mike Gaetcher both had pro football shots, ah...busts!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Alvin "only had one play" Harper, was a stud high jumper at Tennessee, 7-2 is world class.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Remember our DB Terrence Newman, he was a Big12 100 champ while at Kansas State a 10.20 guy.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hollywood Henderson was a 9.5 100 guy and a triple jumper at Langston College. No doubts he ran on the 4x1 relay also. Not sure why he played linebacker, hmmm?
Speed and Zeke should never be uttered in the same sentence.
Anyone hating on Zeke, ah....why? Dude, is a hard runner, and loves to get all the action, a legit stud.
Definitely not a legit stud. I think that is the point is that he isnt. That should be obvious to everyone by now. But he is paid like he is one. Some of us hated the pick and hated the resigning. And have now been proven right on both counts.
I should have never made that post so I'm going back to my original point... some fans think it's Zeke vs Pollard. Other fans understand it's Zeke plus Pollard equals advantage Cowboys. These are RBs that complement each other and together give us a pretty good running game.
Yeah but Zeke makes too much money waaah waaaahh waaaaaaah!!
Any RB who blocks like he does and runs as hard as he does, yep.....stud!
Dude you're making a fool of yourself... How can you be a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and not know that Bob Hayes held the world record at 100 yards with a time of 9.1 for almost 20 years? Track events in the US were measured in yards at all levels through college until the late 70's. We finally converted to metric at all levels somewhere around '79 or '80.
Yeah but Zeke makes too much money waaah waaaahh waaaaaaah!!
I don't care, it's not my money. The Cowboys accountants managed to pay other big contracts while Zeke's contract is still on the books.
A point I've been trying to drive home for awhile, especially when people say Pollard is faster/quicker than Zeke. I'm a fan of both players, btw. Zeke at his current weight is very fast, but dude likes to run downhill and hit people. Those players get very tired of tackling him. Doesn't mean Zeke CAN'T run outside.
Note: Zeke has learned to preserve his body better at the end of runs near the sideline. I'm fine with that.
Now someone will jump in with 'but Pollard has more yards than Zeke this year', which is true, but the 'why' isn't because he's faster, quicker, or a better runner of the rock.
If we need to hand the ball off 25 times in a game to just one guy, we have only 1 player that can carry that load and get 100+ almost every time.
Go Cowboys!
