Well then, what was I thinking? Somehow I thought being a fan meant I can complain and point fingers and suggest I want to win. Little did I know I am whining if I want this team to get back to the top.

As far as parity, well hopes around the corner.

But one thing I do know for sure.

Like Landry said, "Stay close to the top and pop through every few years."

Looks like that is NE's practice. But then I suppose them only having three Championships but playing in 7 AFC Championship games in 12 years doesn't mean much.

Those slackers.

I like Dallas' chances if they are going deep into the play-offs rather than 8-8 and HOPE for parity and luck to find a crossroads.

define for me "being near the top" when 7-9 teams can win it all? Where do you calculate or take into account the factors, schedule, injuries, refs bungled call, a team hitting their stride" and how is all that taken into account?

You can be a 10-2 team and i will let you know, you can lose, does that mean you didnt do everything right?

Winning does not have a set path, there are many many many different factors that contribute to winning it all. THis team could have won it all last year, but kept shooting itself in the foot. It happens. You cant take away the injury excuse, poor rob was dealing with a mess and he did a good job but why he got fired vs excuses was a VERY good reason.

Did this team under perform, yes anyone can make that argument, but a better argument is "the league is built on parity now" and its basically saying medicore is acceptable. Its for the whole league, not just us.

Did anyone really feel last years Ravens were really the team to beat? Come on be honest. I mean San Fran got a late start and basically lost to the clock compared to how awesome the Ravens were. They were a stronger team than most out there, but I wouldnt say only 1 or 2 teams out there could beat them, I think the case for 5 or 6 teams could have easily beaten them.

I do not take those things into account. Either karate do, or karate don't. Simple as that.

The parity argument is a nice one, but I'd rather have a team that is on top, meaning in the play-offs 9 out of 12 years. In the NFC Championship game 7 out of 12 years rather than waiting on the football Gods to decide Dallas is due.

The ravens may have won, and that may give you hope.

But for me, I'd rather have a franchise that was smart, cut players a year before rather than a year after, and was expected to be in the play-offs instead of ridiculed by the league now for 17 years of also-ran.

so out of 12 years, they won two? okay and had they sucked and did the same thing would that make a difference?

See the stats for GB, the Giants, Steelers, any every winner and tell me who has the best model.

Ill also make the case the best team doesnt always win either, and round and round we will go.

But the bottom line for you is, the team is not here to do as you wish. As Eagle fans should learn in a hurry. And possibly Bill fans.

and if thats the model for success why did Billick get fired.

Yes, you absolutely define being a fan as having the right to cry and whine.

I won't argue your definition but it is exactly what you are doing.

Landry coached a very different game. He coached in a pre-salary cap era where you had rights to players for basically as long as you wanted. Quoting him serves perfectly to remind us why the 17 years and counting folks are so woefully out of touch with reality and modern football.

You are more than welcome to become a fan of the Pats.
You can decide if you are a fan of winning or of a franchise.
You can't force those things to collide.

I am a Mavs fan: 1 title ever and watching intently to see if they can miraculously make the playoffs as an 8 seed.
TRangers fan with zero titles ever but a string of quality pennant winning play of late after decades of being terrible.
Cowboys fan with 3 SBs in my high school/college years alone.

If you want to be a Heat, Pats, Yankees fan all I'll do is make fun of you, I can't stop you. But it might make you cry less.
