How many folks are going to have to buy new TV's if Brown is sitting there at 27 and they take Kendricks or OO? This is assuming all the CB's/Gurley/Gordon are gone.

LOL.....

Heck, that's a good question at number 163 if player x is picked over player z.

I like your thinking it's the identity of the team

Don't get me wrong - I think JTerrell's point is very valid. The only way I'd do it is if I feel like my scouting tells me that the player really has the potential to be good for 5 years.

I can't issue reasonable opinions on players for the draft. I don't watch much college football, nor do I have much time to research individual players as much as true draftnicks do. I'll read sturm and articles as I can, and sometimes if I happened to catch a player a couple of times in the season I'll get a pet-cat syndrome, but it's not enough to be meaningful. From what I've seen about Melvin Gordon, for instance, I really like him. But I'm the first to admit that this opinion is based off about 3 games I happened to catch during a gym workout and some clips here and there on youtube.

And @Risen Star will yell at me if I dig in over seeing his youtube clips :(

Yeah I don't disagree about the risk. If Gordon could pass protect/catch anywhere near as well as Murray did I'd actually consider a trade up, but as of now those are big red flags.

All depends on the Cowboys' homework. If they really think they have a back who can be very good for them, you have to consider that 5 year contract. But you really have to be sure about the pick.

To me the 5th year is just fool's gold.
That 5th year isn't cheap by any means.

In many cases it is probably cheaper on the 5th year cap to extend the guy for 3 or 4 years then to simply buy his 5th year.

Except at QB or DE, I wouldn't consider those option-able 5th years all that awesome.

Here is what i think the cowboys will do with less than 36 hours to go.

1)Gurley-if he drops into the 20s then they will consider trading up(not a fan of a trade up at all)
2)Dupree-they might like him but not sure they trade up
3)Gordon -ideal fit for our offense
4)KJ
5)byron jones

these guys are locks imo to be drafted by us at 27

next tier

6)Marcus peters-I am not sure if Garrett is a big fan of him,i like him but he probably is not in their top 5.
7)Mckinney-i feel a strong interest from us mainly as a replacement for Ro.
8)OO-I am more comfortable with him than i was 2 months ago but he has be cleared medically.
9)the safeties Rowe and Randall.
10)the OT-i am sceptical but Jerry mentioned this so this could be a possibility.

I am ok with all these options except Randall who looks too small to play Safety and also whiffs a lot while tackling.

ofcourse a trade down into the early 2nd rd would be ideal if we miss out on the top 5,maybe some team wants a QB like Hundley and Petty and wants a 5th year option on them and will give us a good deal.

The whole 5th year thing is dumb. It's trivial to factor the worth of that extra potential year into whatever the cost of a trade down is going to be. It's no reason to cling to a first round pick when you've got a board full of second rounders in front of you and a willing trade partner on the phone.

Reminds me the year Shaun Rogers was drafted. Was screaming @ the TV......we passed. He played for 12 freaking years!!!!!

We end up w/ some crack head............by the name of Quincy. Maybe you have heard of him.

I'm guessing our choices will be between Jones, Kendricks, Harold, McKinney, OO

Obviously the team would love one of the top RBs or pass rushers, but I don't think they'll be there.

I think the board favorite Kevin Johnson may have climbed out of our reach. And I don't think DT is an option for us.

I like the players in the first group pretty evenly, so I'd hope we could trade down. If not, it's a tough call.

Jones would be my guy. Like him better than KJ because of his physicality. Not pumped about drafting a CB though.

You know I would rather have Brown.
But it seems they don't have interest in him so if they take the other players it would not be a shock to me and without a doubt not worth breaking a TV...Or...Remote..over it lol.

Same here would love to have that tidal wave of hurt coming up the middle.
