The Superdome is a dump

I almost laughed out loud as I drove by the Superdome to my hotel recently. I couldn't believe how small the place was. I was expecting a huge stadium. I would bet 3 Superdomes would be the equivalent to the Cowboys stadium in size. When I asked the Uber driver what was going on w/ the roof.....he told me about the on going lawsuit between the company that applied the coating to the roof...that was suppose to keep it clean...and the city. It's costing the city of New Orleans 250,000.00 to clean it after only 3 years. And now there is a fight as to who is going to pick up the tab.

Anyway...thought it was funny...because the aura that was the Superdome...crashed for me last week. You hear about the great home field advantage that place is for the Saints. Sadly..It's surrounded by hundreds of homeless people...It a depressing place.

I gotta give New Orleans credit though...they do love their Saints. When Brees got hurt vs the Rams..I happen to be bar hopping from one place to another...only to see one Saint fan after another ready to cash in the season. Face in palms...tears flowing...utter disbelief as the Rams crushed them in LA.

What I took away from that was this...this is a brittle fan base right now. We go into their house....put up 2 scores in the 1st....we might just roll these guys..because...all their hopes went down w/ Brees.

Anyway....Enjoy the pictures.

It’s tiny inside too. I went to a game there and the ceiling is MUCH, MUCH lower than it is at AT&T Stadium.

That’s part of why it gets so loud and the fans know it, so they SCREAM when the opposing team has the ball.

Look like a flying saucer straight out of Plan 9 From Outer Space.

Felt bad for the guys having to repel down from the top to wash the dome. Dangling there on ropes w/ a power washer....in 95 degree heat in 80% humidity. That had to be ungodly hot. :(

Even worse...there was only 2 guys doing it. The driver that was telling me the story said...it's taken them 2 months to get the 1/3 of the dome they have done so far. Hell...By the time they get through...they may have to start over...and clean it again.

Get this guy up there too. I think he's Mr. Clean's grandson.

Ain't that the crack-headed sham-wow chiselin' salesman dude, who fly's by the aptly ordained handle of ''Finch"?o_O

*As the rumbling bewailing groaning moans of BILLY MAYES oxyclean casing--liner , slowly subsides back to silence &slips back to it's restless dimension:eek:

Compassion for what? The post is mainly focused on how small it is, and how the roof is dirty. Stop being so soft. They're not the only place to get hit by multiple hurricanes.
Soft?? Cmon man. New Orleans was DECIMATED. It may be an old Dome, but it’s hard to update it when you have to REBUILD YOUR ENTIRE CITY. Easy with the name calling champ.

Show a bit of respect, guys. Would you want someone trashing your house because it didn't have the same shiny exterior as theirs? The Boston Red Sox play in a stadium that opened 5 days after the Titanic sunk in 1912. It's one of the few stadiums I have left on a bucket list. NO ONE gives the Red Sox crap about their home.
