The Superdome is a dump

I almost laughed out loud as I drove by the Superdome to my hotel recently. I couldn't believe how small the place was. I was expecting a huge stadium. I would bet 3 Superdomes would be the equivalent to the Cowboys stadium in size. When I asked the Uber driver what was going on w/ the roof.....he told me about the on going lawsuit between the company that applied the coating to the roof...that was suppose to keep it clean...and the city. It's costing the city of New Orleans 250,000.00 to clean it after only 3 years. And now there is a fight as to who is going to pick up the tab.

Anyway...thought it was funny...because the aura that was the Superdome...crashed for me last week. You hear about the great home field advantage that place is for the Saints. Sadly..It's surrounded by hundreds of homeless people...It a depressing place.

I gotta give New Orleans credit though...they do love their Saints. When Brees got hurt vs the Rams..I happen to be bar hopping from one place to another...only to see one Saint fan after another ready to cash in the season. Face in palms...tears flowing...utter disbelief as the Rams crushed them in LA.

What I took away from that was this...this is a brittle fan base right now. We go into their house....put up 2 scores in the 1st....we might just roll these guys..because...all their hopes went down w/ Brees.

Anyway....Enjoy the pictures.

New Orleans is just kind of a dumpy place. I can take one night in that city if that.

Soft?? Cmon man. New Orleans was DECIMATED. It may be an old Dome, but it’s hard to update it when you have to REBUILD YOUR ENTIRE CITY. Easy with the name calling champ.
The roof is dirty, who cares? It's really not a big deal. People get emotional over the weirdest things. And I called you no names.

Show a bit of respect, guys. Would you want someone trashing your house because it didn't have the same shiny exterior as theirs? The Boston Red Sox play in a stadium that opened 5 days after the Titanic sunk in 1912. It's one of the few stadiums I have left on a bucket list. NO ONE gives the Red Sox crap about their home.
It's really not a big deal lol

Enjoy the game. I live right near Gillette Stadium. It's pristine spotless. But it is Tiny compared

Actually as popular and historic as the French quarter is it's a major dump in itself. The last time I was there you still had to literally had to step over drunk homeless bodies on the sidewalk.

My favorite venue, Texas Stadium, was no less a dump than the Superdome, but it was my dump. The feeling of walking in that storied stadium was incredible.

The Saints are soon putting a ton of money into the Superdome for renovations and upgrades. That's a good thing for the City.

Hmmm. I just did that recently in SF, LA and NYC.

There aren't many places left where that isn't a problem. Relocate here and make camp at the 'Mystery Bus', 63° 52’05.96” N 149° 46’08.41” W. Very few people to step over there.

You know they haven't rebuilt the whole city. The 9th ward is mostly abandoned, half the old population moved to Houston and other surrounding areas (murder rates went up and the pop. is still down 60K), the Feds rebuilt and upgraded the levee system at a cost of $50B, Mercy Hospital, the old trauma center, is abandoned, Mayor Nagin was indicted on 21 counts and convicted on 20 counts of Fed corruption. NOLA is a cesspool. I haven't been back there since 1999 and I only live 4.5 hour drive from there. I have a hard time seeing NOLA as a destination unless you're a 19 year old party drunk ... except maybe for Cowboy games. In fact I try to avoid ALL of corrupted La..

You should talk to some of the spec ops guys that went into the city after Katrina and the quality of the people. And before you get all high and mighty I'll add that my area was devastated by Hurricane Rita 3 weeks later (stronger storm) and they didn't have to bring in sniper teams to cover helicopter rescues nor troops to maintain order. And none for the 3 disasters since then either , which NOLA has remained untouched since 2005.

Some people died, some lost everything. I’m not saying it’s a place I wanna live, just saying it was freaking underwater. Cut the place a little slack.

Would I rather we be playing in a more desirable location? Absolutely, yes...

That place has always been obnoxious. Why do we play their place EVERY single time except that one time last year??

ANYWAY...

Cowboys by 7+ tomorrow, Cowboys’ fans!!

Don’t forget to enjoy every single game.. This is our year!!

The Superdome became the world’s largest porta-potty during Katrina. I’ll never get past that.

It’s a 44 year old stadium that has been through hurricanes and flooding - of course it’s not bigger and better than the stadiums being built today.

Yeah I agree, but the smaller size gives the crowd an advantage in making noise unlike our monster
