We have zero chance of doing anything this year with the defense we have.

The defense is a problem. Not only the DL but we are weak at MLB. Hitchens isn't a full time starter in this league.

Some fans knew this though and some fans just put their goggles on and believed that a bunch of no names and cast offs would gel into an effective group.

The reality is that this team is going to struggle to stop teams in close games in the 4th Q. They don't generate enough pressure to keep QBs uncomfortable back there so when a team is forced to pass given a game situation, they likely will find success because the combo of no pass rush and then Marinelli playing softer coverages to prevent big plays will result in methodic but effective drives.

And no, I don't believe getting Lawrence back changes that. I like Lawrence a lot and think he's a very good player but he's not dominant enough to change the complexion of a DL.

The offense looked similar to the beginning of last season. Long drives to get into red zone but a missed play, penalty, or a good defensive play stopping a drive to make a field goal attempt.

The thing about these long drives is it can wear down a defense and you control the tempo but if a team holds you to a field goal they almost feel like the won the drive. For instance, the Cowboys have two long drives and get 6 points and then the Giants take four plays to get a TD and get a lead. If the Cowboys get a TD and Field goal to go up 10-0, I think the feeling on the other side of the field is much different.

People want to give the defense credit for 'holding them to 20 points' but the fact is that the Giants were scoring any time they needed to. Whenever the defense really needed to make a stop, they failed. Several times when they were aided by huge penalties as well.

That was arguably the worst offensive line they will see this year, and not only did they not mount a pass rush, they got repeatedly gashed up the middle by a poor running game.

How bad do things look when the best defensive lineman you can point to is Terrell McClain? And it's not even a close second!

What's the excuse for Tyrone Crawford today? Is he injured yet again? The fact is that he doesn't look anywhere close to the impact player he's being paid to be.

And no, Hitchens is no middle linebacker. Next option up there.

I played along with the 'just wait and see' on Mayowa, and I didn't 'see' much. The less-informed can point to his coverage sack, but the fact is that it had nothing to do with his pass rush, but rather him continuing to try. I saw one move from the guy - outside rush. He repeatedly tried to run around the tackle and was either pushed past the QB or compressed. His bull rush is non-existent. He simply doesn't have the power for that.

And there's nothing that need be said about what they put out there at LDE, no other team in the league would put that caliber of a player in that role. The zero results are exactly what was expected, against one of the worst right tackles this team will see.

I don't think the "young team" and "young quarterback" had anything to do with it. Beasley - a veteran - makes his catch, it's 7 points instead of 3. If Bryant - a veteran - does the same, that's another 7 points instead of 3.
Well I agree with those instances but there were a few instances were our youth showed up. If Brown turns around that isn't a touchdown for Sheperd.

...is that you have to finish drives. Bad defenses get exposed, no matter how long the offense can hold onto the ball. We won TOP 36:43 to 23:17, so we held the Giants to only 9 drives.

If you cant stuff the run or get your defense off the field, you are doomed. Football 101.

I think we should sign Jasper Brinkley this week. He is stout against the run and we could use that on 1st and 2nd downs at least.

I didn't have a big issue with Brown on that play.

Just curious, why do you think Dez will
go back to being this dominant force? We havent seen Dez be anywhere near a dominate force in his last 8 or so games.

He will be shut down again on Sunday.

First off, Son...that is the level of play that he is at, in reality. AND, I'm not a you prove it pessimist.

Maybe you don't understand what you stated with he's not been dominant in the past eight games. He only played in this last Sunday's game!

His Rating was 69.5...not sure where this guy got that from.

Bring your source on passer rating...another rating might be completion percentage....or quarterback rating.
