Bud Light presents Real men of Genius
Reeeeal Men of Genius
We salute you ole Martyr of the intertubes
To the man who will show the world your courage of the keyboard
To champion that little man that is beat down on the dreaded cyber
battlefield of the sports message boards to show them you are not
afraid to be banned, to thumb your nose at their source code.
To return home to triumphant victory and revel in front
of your warrior tribe, hit a cap button and emoticon and proudly
proclaim...I showed those blankers what was up
I showed them what a true cyber gangsta means
How you flashed your electronic patriotism and gang signs by
giving them internet 01101000011001010110110001101100
Oh you binary bad arse, you keyboard kamikaze, you vigilante of the vbull.
The world wide web nearly broke in half during your stunning display of
pwnage. Yes your thread delivered and there was only epic fail by your enemies of electronic frontier...yes their bases truly belong to you now.
So crack open a cold one ole digital deity and know that before being banned
you rained down bolts of binary badness on those users.
Mr, I planned to be banned from your moronic board and that does not make me moronic for doing it, man.
BrAinPaiNt;2621456 said:I used to like the Come to Daddy video by them...it was just so twisted.
Hostile;2621221 said:I have been told that you post mostly at DCC nowadays and have ripped me over there. If you haven't then I apologize for thinking otherwise.
Bum definitely undermined the scouting department, but it's clear that later in Schramm's career he became more of a showman and promoter.Hostile;2621221 said:I'm going to disagree with you a bit. I think Tex was handicapped by Bum Bright who did not want to spend the money it took to do proper research and the team paid for it.
... and wouldn't you agree such criticism was warranted? Lamar Hunt was equally innovative, many would say even more so, but his style was far less flashy, especially after the league's merged.Hostile;2621221 said:I disagree with you again. Tex did not stay out of the limelight. In fact many criticized him for being more powerful than Rozelle.
Not as a defensive playcaller, but certainly from a hiring standpoint.Hostile;2621221 said:He pulls Wade's strings?
That remains to be seen. A guy is a puppet if he's GM in name only and Jerry's calling the shots. A "real" GM has the contractual authority to be the final decision-maker and bases those decisions on his football acumen and desire to field the best product possible, both in the short and longterm. Marketing and a perpetual win-now philosophy often conflict with his goals.Hostile;2621221 said:So, he's going to step aside and hire a competent GM, or another puppet?
No, but it would allow Jerry to focus on what he does best, which is marketing the NFL and the Dallas Cowboys. If the GM sucks, then Jerry fires him for the right reasons and hires a new guy. Accountability starts at the top. Right now it's a hollow term at Valley Ranch.Hostile;2621221 said:See, that's where so much of this argument loses me. Whomever this GM is that he hires, the real football man, is going to exorcise him and his albatross from the building.
This we can agree on. Whether we take it lying down or not is what I think this thread is about.Hostile;2621221 said:Unfortunately we are stuck with him.
No, but it would help raise awareness in casual fans and bring attention to others who don't see the inadvertent damage Jerry causes in his role as GM.Hostile;2621221 said:$10,000 and a billboard and website to announce fan displeasure is going to land one of those caliber guys?
It's possible he might be looking for cred elsewhere by saying that.Hostile;2621221 said:I've already been warned that he plans to get himself banned here today. What purpose does that serve?
Why is it that it should be a question?Hostile;2621221 said:I think this is stupid, but the thread's still here.
Hostile;2621221 said:Bet me I wouldn't get the same respect over there. Naw, save your money, don't bet me.
Thank you for the PM.ravidubey;2621480 said:Ripped? No. I'll PM you directly about specifics. It's not my style to rip posters personally. Like anyone, I just might not agree with what they post.
I'm drawing a blank on the "Marshall" Irvin reference.Bum definitely undermined the scouting department, but it's clear that later in Schramm's career he became more of a showman and promoter.
One example might be comments after "Marshall" Irvin was drafted was that he should "accelerate our return to the living". Schramm was being funny and glib, but it underscores his need to work the audience a bit.
I'd like to state for the record that there is nothing wrong with criticism. I'm just saying that Schramm was not in the background making football moves, listening to no one and being a genius.... and wouldn't you agree such criticism was warranted? Lamar Hunt was equally innovative, many would say even more so, but his style was far less flashy, especially after the league's merged.
Hunt would never draw empty headlines to his team like "Cowboys Interested in Carl Lewis" after the 1984 Olympics like Schramm did. Schramm was only half-joking. It's stuff like that which creates a circus sideshow that overshadows the product on the field, and a team can take only so much of that.
I simply don't agree with this as a concern. Not as a defensive playcaller, but certainly from a hiring standpoint.
But based on the evidence that is Jerry Jones track record, which do you expect to get? That remains to be seen. A guy is a puppet if he's GM in name only and Jerry's calling the shots. A "real" GM has the contractual authority to be the final decision-maker and bases those decisions on his football acumen and desire to field the best product possible, both in the short and longterm. Marketing and a perpetual win-now philosophy often conflict with his goals.
I believe the GM is already accountable. Yes, to himself only as far as the team goes, but he still is accountable to the fans. No, but it would allow Jerry to focus on what he does best, which is marketing the NFL and the Dallas Cowboys. If the GM sucks, then Jerry fires him for the right reasons and hires a new guy. Accountability starts at the top. Right now it's a hollow term at Valley Ranch.
I'm not lying down. I don't consider a billboard that begs for graffiti to be standing up. I don't believe polls asking for dissenting voices are smart advertising. What can I tell you? I think this is a dumb idea. This we can agree on. Whether we take it lying down or not is what I think this thread is about.
I simply don't think it would. I think it will get ridiculed worse by people who are not message board fans and fans of other teams as well. Just what we need, more ridicule. No, but it would help raise awareness in casual fans and bring attention to others who don't see the inadvertent damage Jerry causes in his role as GM.
Mostly it would be a way to express our feelings, like we do on this website everyday, yet in a way that we know would reach Jerry Jones' eyes once and for all. Nothing is more frustrating than to voice anger at a blank wall.
That's exactly what he is looking for. He point blank asked me via PMs if calling someone an idiot is against the rules and I told him yes. So what did he do? Called everyone who disagrees with him an idiot. That's nothign but drama queen BS and you know it.It's possible he might be looking for cred elsewhere by saying that.
Because contrary to opinions expressed on other forums we do not silence voices here as long as the posts are within the Guidelines. It's a real easy concept. We've allowed other stupid ideas to linger too. I don't always like it but I would rather we be tolerant than self absorbed. Why is it that it should be a question?
You have no idea of the History I have with two of the guys over there if you say this. You can believe it is all about their "non-homerness" if you wish, but that's a sales pitch. Period.Maybe at first, but ultimately it comes down to the content of your posts. It's an anti-homer slant over there mainly because of the mass of blind homers who typically post on fan boards.
There's always a fine line between being a homer and respecting reality (lower case).
