Since the mid-'90's, I have often advocated boycotting this team, with much the same "drop dead", "get another team", "don't watch", etc. responses that lamtdg is soliciting. Jerry needs money to get that stadium finished and this economic downturn is not helping. If the fans turn away, he will have to do something to make it better.
I think Jones biggest impediment to being a good GM is his "dreamer" personality. As I have posted before, I have heard him say in interviews that he is a dreamer; that he tends to believe that 2+2 can equal 5, or 3 or what ever you need. One look at some of the moves he's made easily confirm this:
Bring in T.O. to be the be-all-end-all WR, dreaming that his antics would not destry our lockerroom as he did in SF and Philly;
Paying Tony Romo $67 mil before he had even posted a good December record dreaming he would be the be-all-end-all QB;
Dreaming that 4th rnd pick Isaiah Stanback would be just as good as Hines Ward as a WR;
Dreaming that foolish moves such as bringing in WR Roy Williams would amount to a SB to finish-out Texas Stadium. Not only could he have been competed for in FA, there are other WRs that may be available to bid on that actually run routes, play every down and keep their mouth shut at least until they contribute something positive to the team.
I'm sure ther are a lot of other indicators that you can think of too. But until Jones develops a more realistic view of his team and develops the guts to make the really tough decisions that GMs must make this team will not be winning any PO games, much less a SB.
If I were the GM I'd have cut Martellus Bennett for making that video. Yes, we'd have "wasted" a 2nd round pick (just as we did w/ Jacob Rogers, Tony Dixon and as it turns out Anthony Fasano), but for that we may have gained 15-20 (or more) players already here that would realize Jerry and Wade really DO mean business about turning this team around. This "kid" openly made fun of the owner on the internet, and this owner is truning the other cheek. Is it really any wonder that the players run the team instead of the owner-GM and coaches? How can T.O. respect any GM who let's this kind of thing go on? How can players be asked to discipline themselves and have confidence when the GM doesn't have the confidence to fire a first year player? What does that tell the team about what the GM thinks of them, that we can't do without some run-off-at-the-mouth fool? A GM that pays a QB $67 million and expects him to be critized by such a fool? It makes little or no sense to me but it must make sense to a lot of people judging by what I've heard from people on this site as well as the Cowboys own outlets (Talking Cowboys and Lunch Break). Go figure...
