Go back to what go him his status and success = He needs to run when its there. Plain and simple.

IF he does that then defense cannot plan because we become less predictable. They have to leave a spy and he can have more success throwing mid to long range passes.

Its the only part that has really changed about his game. IMO.

Good point. I'd like to see him run more often.

I totally agree. There were PLENTY of opportunities for Romo to run and he just tried to make something happen instead of using his feet to get a few yards.

I couldn't agree more. I wonder if the coaches want him to hold back on running a little bit to prevent any sort of injury?

Good point. If you recall, when they played the Giants in Giant Stadium a few years back, Strahan said that the defensive game plan was to keep Romo in the pocket where he's less effective.

I am good with that.

I am also great with if the running game is working , like it was last Sunday night. Someone rip the playbook outta Garrett's paws and tell Tony to keep handing that ball off until the defense can stop it.

I don't think so, heck Dallas ran the QB draw down by the goal line Sunday for a TD.

I remember thinking a couple times during the Giants game..."hey Tony could have run there for almost 10 yards"...

Even in the Brandon Jacobs clip provided on the forum, he mentions "we kept him (Romo) in the pocket". He said Romo is too dangerous and will make plays when he is on the run.

I do agree that Romo seems to be running less and less. Didn't Romo mentioned that he studied tape on Tom Brady and was trying to learn things from his approach. Maybe he needs to get back to being Romo.

I think we should roll him out more. That's something Parcells did with him that I always liked.

They don't want him running and improvising for two reasons IMO:

1) the obvious potential of a kill shot: getting hurt big time

2) ALOT of his turnovers use to come while freelancing out of the pocket: he'd get hit and fumble constantly. So........now he stays in the pocket and throws INT's left, right and center.

3) this has been common knowledge on him in this league for 3 years now. Defenses, especially in the nfceast do NOT lose contain and let him get out of the pocket: they game plan for it, just like the gspots did successfully on Sunday. Moot point IMO.

or he could throw a 2 yard pass to one of his backs and let them run.

I've been saying since last season that Romo could run for a ton of yards. He's so dangerous throwing the ball that there are always run lanes for him to get the first down.

His rushing TD from this week is a perfect example. He could get a lot of 3rd and 3's that way. He would have to be careful and slide... but he could kill teams that way.

In the Giant game, he had 20 yards of green in front of him on one of our failed 3rd down conversions. It was 3rd and about 5, and he tried to squeeze one in to Crayton. Instead, we have to punt. When the first down is there, he needs to take it unless there is someone wide open.

Also, he could create a lot of problems on some designed runs for him. It would make the defense have to watch for it and would open up the passing game because defenders would have to be aware of his running ability.

Garrett is putting in plays for him like he's Troy Aikman. He isn't and he has different strengths. Mobility and ability outside the pocket is one of them.

Yes. No if they thought, heck he could run at any time then the safeties playing center field would have to make a decision. Come up in the box and shadow the WR. It could create a few situations that favor Romo to WR.

Exactly.

Remember the feeling you got when Romo took over for Bledsoe at halftime? Bledsoe couldn't even complete his drop and get set and suddenly Romo is scrambling around and making plays.

I'd be curious so see how many of Romo's 2007 yards came from the dump off to Barber too.

I don't see that as often anymore either.

I understand the injury aspect of this. But it would be something where he did it when it was safe and he slid.

Plus he got hurt last year IN THE POCKET.

I think he is more susceptible in the pocket especially when it gets cold and its playoff time. Teams gun for the gunner. We saw it happen last year.

We could trade him for a high pick or a real Qb that would fix some things.:laugh2:
