The Top 20 Runningbacks In The NFL Are...

8. Marion Barber, Dallas Cowboys
Kryptonite -- ...........He is not shifty and does not avoid well,......
Totally disagree.

Barber is shiftier than most of the backs in the league. He isn't an Alstott type of back, because he doesn't just put his head down and plow all the time. He shares some traits with that kind of back (lack of breakaway speed), but he also has an escapability that isn't based on strength alone.

Some of his 5-yard TD's, he is completely untouched, even though the D had penetration. I like his first step, his patience, and his instinct for giving the defender the worst angle possible, every bit as much as I appreciate his ability to punish defenders.

I'd just like to see him pace himself a little better.

he has great lateral agility, his slide is one of the best in the league

I could really care less what the media thinks of Portis,...
Let's begin right there. Is this the post of a man who does not care?

Dude, you're practically frothing at the mouth over this. Now let's pick up the rest of this.

I wasn't aware that being on a top 10 list was a "talking down."

"You're one of the 10 best looking men in the world."

"Damnit, don't talk me down."

But I just am flabbergasted that any Cowboys fan, with a straight face, can say that Marion Barber is the better RB.
Wait, wait, wait. You can "care less" and be "flabbergasted" at the same time? THat is totally cool. Can you rub your tummy and pat your head at the same time too?

Marion Barber would be pretty damn lucky, by the end of his career, having the same numbers Portis does now.
Which is why I asked you if you ever considered this list is about THIS point in their careers, not their overall career. Has Adrian Peterson done more in the NFL than Steven Jackson has? What about more than Portis? Yet you're not making one single squawk about him are you?

Let the grapes ripen on the vine a little more next time and it won't upset your tummy so much.

Furthermore, what does that mean? You "could" care less.... well yeah.... somebody "could" care less about anything. Now when you couldn't care less about something, now that's meaningful.

Where did you find that or did you create it? I luv it! I'm blowing this one up and putting it in my office. The next time someone walks in with a gripe, I'll glance at it before responding. :D

McGahee seems a little low. I'd have him in front of Barber and Portis. He has nothing around helping him and he still gets good yards. I'd probably take him over anyone not in the top 4.

That's a good way to put it. In Barber's best runs, he "slaloms" through the front 7, then punishes the little guys who are left. He knows who to take head-on and who not to.

Wow, MBIII has some expectations to live up to being rating in the top 10... I think he can be a 1,300 yard runner with 20 TD's.

Yes he can. Part will depend on how the carries are divied up. As long as the group is productive and has a nice ypc, I fine with whomever totes the rock.

The whole worn down defenses theory may work for someone who can not look up the numbers

Here are Barbers Splits from last season

1st half 4.8 YPC
2nd Half 4.8 YPC

1st Q- 5.5 YPC <--(wow)

2nd Q 4.3 YPC (most his TDs in this quarter)

3rd Q 4.6 YPC

4th Q 4.9 YPC

he's need to be with the money we are paying him.

anyone have a problem with Barber being behind Gore? I mean Gore got yards but has to many fumbles and not enough touchdowns. I got this argurement going on right now on some other forum im on.

Frankly no back should be in the top 10 that has not had at least 2, and preferably 3 great years. Peterson,Jackson, GOre, have only had 1.

Steven Jackson at Number 3?....LOL that is hilarious!.

And LT over peterson that phenom?..Get real, this isnt 2006 this is 2008..peterson easilly best back in the NFl.

based on last year peterson is the best back in football by a mile and some change. Steven jackson shouldnt even be listed, the guy was failure. larry Johnson another failure. Whats next shaun alexander is going to be top 10?
