The Trysten Tally

Exactly.. If dude wants to talk about Zeke he can start a Zeke thread.. I did this to talk about Hill.. yet another guy a segment of this fan base wants to get rid of without even seeing what he can do. Hell in some cases they want to get rid of guys AFTER seeing a guy play well.. I thought Hill showed some good stuff to have been out over a year. I'm liking what he brings to the interior of the defense because he is clearly quicker than the rest of the guys we have there. It was apparent on the times he looped around ... cause he closed on Ryan waaaay faster than I think Ryan wanted him to. Plus his hustle getting in on plays that ran away from him was something he has always shown ... A lot harder for backs to carry our guys for 10 yards when one of them weighs 320..
Honestly, I don't get why people get emotionally invested over a player . I've always tried be as neutral as possible. If a player plays well , I'll praise them . If they play poorly, then I'll criticize them.
They may be a contigent of cowboys who are critical of Hill but ,there is also a contigent who
Still over hype Hill.Hill played decently today and I hope he continues to play well . If he doesn't , I call him out for it. Can I expect the same from you?

There is nothing wrong with liking a player and rooting for him to succeed. It certainly makes a helluva lot more sense than rooting for a player on YOUR team to fail as so many do here. I don't really have a problem callin' 'em as I see 'em. I'm pretty sure I pointed out the plays in which Hill got stonewalled in my analysis. He was decent today. Showed some flashes but I'm not sure he played enough snaps to have a real impact. Will be watching to see how he shows with more snaps and really just how he develops.

I like the way Hill looked. He looked quick to me.

Like most of you I was really interested to see what if anything Hill could bring today.. So with that in mind I went back through the game looking for his snaps.. Here is what I found..

1st quarter
ATL
9:09 1st and 10 at the Dallas 20 - Hill lines up and the 1 tech. The play is a run off tackle right.. away from Hill.. The center tries to cut him off from the play but Hill sheds him and runs down Patterson to get in on the tackle for a short gain!
2nd and 7 at the Dallas 17 - Hill lines up outside shoulder of the left guard. Loops inside and blows past the center to force Ryan to get rid of the ball too quick.. Hill ends up at Ryan's feet. Also could have drawn a holding but he ran past the center so fast that the center only got a piece of the jersey and could not slow him down.

Next series:
5:36 1st and 10 at the Dallas 49 - Hill again at the 1 tech. Looked late off the ball.. got caught up in the mess..
1st and 10 at the Dallas 35 - Hill at 1 tech, fires into the guard then works his way down the lane to pursue .. It's a run to Patterson off tackle right.. Hill fights off his block to get a hand on Patterson's legs .. he goes low, Golston goes high.. 3 yard gain..
2nd and 7 - RDT, outside shoulder of guard.. Pass play.. Hill gets good initial push but then gets stonewalled. Pass is knocked down by Golston.
3rd and 7 - RDT same alignment.. Hill gets good push and along with Armstrong forces Ryan to slide to his right and throw on the move.. PBU Lewis.

3rd quarter:

1st series

1st and 10 at the 25 - RDT .. pass play Hill gets away from the guard and loops around inside into Ryan's face.. another hurry. Forces poor throw.. incomplete.
2nd and 10 - RDT .. Ryan 3 step drop.. nobody got near him.. pass complete to Pitts for 8.
3rd and 2 - 1 tech .. 1 step drop thrown slant.. no pressure.. dropped ball.

After a series off

30 seconds left in the 3rd -
1st and 10 at the 25 - RDT quick hitter through 2 hole.. no chance for backside dline. 17 yard run for Gallman.

I did not see him in on another snap..

Summary.. in on two tackles.. at least two QB hurries .. Not Aaron Donald.. but not bad..
Good stuff Ronnie. I'm concerned about Hill playing NT, but with Osa n Gallimore rotating at 3T it's going to get crowded. Solid contribution by Hill.. would like to see it consistently.

Thank you for doing this. All in all, I think a good showing after being off for so long

Good to see hill being productive. I hope it continues along with the other young DT's.
Wanted to see more of him...but I get it...just wanted to work him in a bit...and not lose him to injury again.

Yeah part of me wanted him out there for the entire 4th quarter.. but I get that they didn't want to work him to exhaustion because that's when guys tend to get hurt. Plus there were some other guys who deserved some snaps.. Will be watching what they do with him going forward.

Imagine Hill and Gallimore, with Hamilton and Osa rotating in, AND Lawrence and Gregory at DE.

Kind of surprised we did not get more from Osa today. Maybe the reduced snaps messed with his rhythm. He was the best of our DT's the last several games..

Thanks for the detailed summary. I didn't notice him too much, so he must not have been bad. :)

That was a lot of work man… it is appreciated.

During the game, I watched him a little bit. Nothing much really stuck out for me, either good or bad. However, the one thing that I did kind of notice was that his get off and explosion looked pretty good for a guy in his first game back from an ACL. However, he is known for his first step quickness, so maybe I should have expected it.

Anyway, I’m glad to see that he still has it because that was his best attribute. If he can play with that kind of explosion, it will give him his best shot at being a good player for Dallas. He can at least he a solid rotational piece if he can shoot the gap and disrupt in the backfield.
