The Ugly Win

Had we gone out and dominated and won by 21 everybody would have said, wow they're good/we're good etc.

With going to Philly this week this will keep them focused on the job because it is never easy in this league.

I think winning when your not at your best shows how good you are. Not often will a team have 3 turnovers and win, in recent years Cowboys make that many mistake we lost. No doubt a game like this past one will give coaches a lot to work on with players which is why I expect them to go out this weekend a bit more focused and fewer mistakes.

Very true and a type game we found ourselves on the losing end, in shock, as the carpet got pulled too many times . Not the case this time, or a few last year, i like this trend

This may not be a popular opinion, but I think it's sometimes good for a team to go through some ugly wins every once in a while.

At the end of the day, a win is a win, but an ugly win gives the staff a lot of coaching points to hit on the next week.

That staff can justifiably be all over these players butt after that game. Even though we won, there was plenty of slop happening that needs to be corrected.

I hope the staff uses this game to really bear down on these players and coach them up.

Some things that are ugly are good !!!

I think ugly wins build character through adversity. They toughen up the team's group mentality. Lopsided wins are fantastic but they can undermine your determination when you're in a dogfight with an opponent not giving an inch. This is why I really don't care if Dallas wins big or small, just that they win.

Go Cowboys :starspin:

Not sure its good to have an ugly game right out of the gate, but whatever, its better than a loss.

Actually any win is good I don't rally care how they get them.

I'd give that win back to get Dez and Gregory back on the field.

I'm not a short term thinker. That was a horrific win that will have serious ramifications on the rest of the season.

They have an equal chance to get injured every game. You give a win back and then what happens if they get injured the next game?

Obviously what happened was not ideal but a win here and there is the difference between the 2014 Eagles and Cowboys.

They still have Romo and their key players on the O line.

Your post makes no sense. They weren't injured because we won. It's not some trade off. We very well could've lost that game and they'd still be injured. Can you say that losing the game and them still being injured would be better?

You're not thinking long term, you're just thinking negatively.

Better clean your act up or your 'Like' count is going to take a real hit. :p

Other than the turnovers the Cowboys thoroughly outplayed the Giants all night long so it was somewhat a different kind of ugly win. If the Giants would've won that would've been the more tradional type of ugly win where you get outplayed but some how pull out a victory.

I do agree that the Cowboys outplayed the Giants, but that's not saying much. I truly believe our roster is much, much better than the Giants. I saw several missed assignments on defense, which is probably bound to happen, as well as a few easily catchable balls that were dropped by the WRs. Those would both be great things for the coaching staff to get on the players about, as well as obviously the turnovers (which 2 of were kind of flukey, I'll admit).

I'll take a ugly win any day, although it might not be good for ones health!
