and he has a 6-4 record in the UFC while never beating a top fighter. Nick is good but he's overhyped and overrated since he left the UFC to beat up on mediocre competition in smaller orgs.

You can also make an argument he won at least two of those losses. The Karo and Diego fight, especially come to mind. He's obviously grown as a fighter since then, as well.

It's not fair to make him out to be some sort of also-ran. He's legit competition at 170.

That's the Nick haters M.O. He just made it look like Nick got his *** kicked when in reality each of his UFC losses were close fought decision losses that didn't go his way. He beat Karo no matter what the judges scored it.

I'm not trying to be confrontational but it seems like Nick haters go out of their way to discredit him just because they don't like him. I hate Diego with a passion but I still know he is a beast.

Nick is the only person that has ever KOed Lawler. Gomi is one of the best fighters in the world.

Can I ask a question? Are you a newish fan of mma? You know Nick Diaz used to fight in the UFC right? Same with Lawler. Just wondering.

I've been watching MMA for more than long enough to know that he was in UFC and saw most of his UFC fights and was never very impressed with him.

I'm not saying the guy can't fight. It's obvious he can, all guys at that level can obviously fight to some degree, I just don't think he's that great and that he's over estimated as being great now days because he's beaten some mediocre, or past their prime, fighters in some smaller orgs.

I do agree, however, that he shouldn't have lost the Karo fight.

As far as UFC goes, if he came back and fought at 170, I honestly don't know that I'd give him much of a chance against GSP, Alves, Finch, and maybe not even Hughes.

But, again, he's not a total bum. I mean just because I dont like a fighter, or call them weak or useless or whatever, I do understand that they're actually very skilled or they wouldn't be at the level they are.

Saying that you wouldn't give the guy much of a chance against the three best welterweights in the world isn't exactly a knock on Diaz. I wouldn't either, but I don't think that is a knock on the guy. He is definitely on the doorstep of cracking top 5, with GSP, Fitch, Alves, and Jake Shields being IMO the definite top 4 in the division.

His stock has definitely gone up since he left the UFC. That much is certain.

I'd say he would be number 3 or 4. Koscheck might be ahead of him, and he is definetely ahead of Shields. Shields has no standup.
