The Unfathomable Kellen Moore Play. Did this seal his doom with Jerald?

It hurts me. It burns in me heart.

Don't make this about Dak.

Another Kellen Moore legacy for us.

What had inflamed me with regret all these years was Jackie Smith dropping tha ball in 1979. But at least Dan Reeves had a plan. A good one! Alas, it failed.

But this play should live in infamy when Fat Mac and Kellen Moore mentally abandoned their team in panic.

Indeed, wha was Dallas doing?

Welp. I might have thought a seasoned coaching staff would have maybe tried to squeeze in a quick one at the sidelines for the receiver to run out of bounds, get the 1st down, and stop the clock for a Hail Mary?
A Hail Mary from the 40 at best (and that's being generous with six seconds left)? Not going to get there. We most likely were trying to confuse San Fran in hopes of getting a bunch of laterals started. It was obviously a failed effort, but it isn't likely that anything we did there was going to work. I hold a lot against Moore (mainly for relying too much on stuff he learned from Garrett) but this is nitpicking at its finest.

MM is why KM is no longer here. When you get past the typical coachspeak and public sunshine pumping and bouquets he threw him when he left— he told us why the change was made:

Run efficiency.

It wasn’t the numbers of called run plays that was driving MM crazy. It was poor situational play calling and not effectively playing complimentary football with the D.

MM said he will settle for less “production” (stats and points) if he can get better “efficiency “ (fewer turnovers, more TOP, fewer penalties, cleaner execution).

And he’s right. With KM we will blow some teams out and look fantastic on offense (Minnesota last year for example), and then some weeks we look absolutely abysmal (Wash).

The inconsistency and lack of awareness of WHEN to run and play smart situational football was driving MM (and some of us fans too lol) crazy imo

Hail Mary.. hope for a penalty. What they decided to do instead was pretty pathetic. And if they didn't look equally pathetic on the final play the year before it probably wouldn't have been as bad. But 2 years going out like complete chumps against the same team is pretty sad.

We all know Kellen “The Hammer” Moore had zero qualifications when the fuhrer hired him to be Dak’s QB coach and Moore had zero qualifications for being promoted as O-Coordinator. Many sports writers have described our roster since 2016 as a Super Bowl roster but the fuhrer handed the reigns over to a complete unknown, a candidate with no championship skins on the wall, and yet again like carrot top was allowed to learn on the job. I can’t believe any nfl team hired this dufus. The good news is he’s gone. That Zeke play was the stupidest play design in nfl history.

If Zeke executes his block it's a tie game.
He actually did. execute his play. Dak didn't.

So let's make zeke hike the ball and let a LB totally tee off on him.

The guy didn't get Dak. Dak screwed it up.

Zeke isn;t a good O-line ...okay fine. And dak...on that play...was not a good QB.

When a de-nutted team can only generate 1 TD the entire game, this is a fitting final play
Yep...fitting on so many ways. Can you imagine asking Barry or Emmitt to go out there and play the entire O-line? Would they do it?

MEanwhile we got JACK wagons ridiculing zeke for trying.

The amount of disrespect by the coaches and fans is unfathomable.

Doesn't bother me as much as others. Niners defense is stout, they were going to sniff out pretty much whatever was called there. Anybody think Dak was going to throw a TD there from a regular formation? Might at well try something weird from up your sleeve. It just didn't work.

Fact is we had a chance to steal one. Lotta blame to go around.

But did our super star leader.....lead us?
Why try something weird.....why not a method that has at least worked a couple times or so?

I have zero issues with that final play. It’s such a low percentage situation either way you might as well try and get creative. Getting a couple lineman off the field and extra skill players on the field who can advance the ball is a decent idea, meanwhile the remaining oline is already set outside to clear a path for a runner.

What doesn’t make sense to me is the pass right over the middle to Turpin. Not sure if that was the original design or if dak went to him just because he was under pressure so quick and could let the actual play develop?

oh, zeke tried. he had 26 meaningful yards in 10 carries for an astounding 2.6 yards and a long run of 5 yards.
just too dang funny what you will cling to...

Zeke did his job rolling backwards lol……he’s not a good o lineman but he did his job. Just log out for the summer.

That play may have just put a big bow on this turd of a game. But it was lost way before this. Everyone on the team had given up and was just going through the motions to get back to the locker room. Dak never took his eye off Turpin and all the other receivers just jogged five to ten yards looking dazed and confused. Pitiful way to end the game, yes...what made it worst was they lost the year before also in a pitiful way with Dak running the time off the clock. Let's see what happens this season.

They were at their 24-yard line with six seconds left. You have a plan for that?
They tried getting the ball to the fastest man they had hoping he could make a play. Nothing much you can do in that situation. You just have to avoid putting yourself in that situation.
