I just watched a video showcasing the innovations of Unreal Engine 5.5, and wow, the future of gaming is looking nothing short of extraordinary. Growing up in the late 80s and 90s, I spent countless hours immersed in 8-bit pixelated Nintendo side-scrollers, marveling at their charm. I still remember booting up Halo in 2001, having LAN parties with my friends, convinced I was witnessing the pinnacle of gaming. Fast forward to today, and it’s mind-blowing to see how far we’ve come. It making me wonder what future generations will think of today’s "cutting-edge" games. It’s almost amusing to imagine kids someday saying, 'Remember when we thought Unreal Engine 5.5 was the pinnacle of gaming?'

With technology advancing at lightning fast speeds, and the massive implementation of AI, it’s both thrilling and kind of scary to consider what lies ahead. A future where games might become indistinguishable from reality, especially with the development of VR and AR.
Ok, those are my morning thoughts.

The first thing that comes to mind, remember when the first splinter cell came out with the nice graphics and lighting effects. They look old hat now

Just picked up a game called days gone for 14 dollars.
Very, very underrated game IMO. I picked it up from PSN+ and had a ball playing it. There were a few things annoying about it, but never did I think I was wasting my time on a cheaply made game.

Witcher 4 is going to be Unreal 5

Not sure what the Witcher 1 remake will be on. I dont think CDPR are the ones doing it. Supposedly they are making it about as big as 3 was

It's staggering the amount of tech I've seen in my lifetime. I'm 62 years old and through the years it seemed every time I turned the corner something new and exciting was happening. Things we take for granted now were a pipe dream a few years ago. Most of the time it happens and we don't really notice it. Having said that, there are a lot of things I thought we would have figured out by now and we are still living in the dark ages.

I just got Cyberpunk 2077 from Gamefly. Any hints to get started? I just finished personalizing my character. Not sure which faction to start with.
Factions are a role playing element. Dont factor into game mechanics. Ive played as all 3, Street Kid feels the most natural

Some pointers...

- Equip one of each : Pistol, rifle, shotty and cycle through through them. Level each up so you can more perk points.

- Invest early perks points into healing. Body skill line I think

- Start fights by uploading a quickhacks. Helps soften up enemies and helps you get used to the cyber deck system

- Early on do as many Assult in Progress as you can. Good way to get early money weapons.

- Decon weapons and gear over selling. You need crafting parts badly and cant buy them. Money is easy to come by

-You get XP and health by sleeping and showering. Make sure you always have that running

- Do the Gigs. Those are your small side quests. 5 to minutes each. Good money, lots of loot, good XP and a good way to learn the game

Also if you register for cross progession for free at their site, you get some good starter stuff. There is a link in the menu

Excellent advise, especially the decon of weapons instead of selling. I would add...I like to run as a netrunner so I like to advance Tech and Int quickly. You can open a lot of doors and hack more stuff with high Tech. Int will get you more ram and recovery of ram. After you do all the gigs for a specific fixer you will get a pretty nice item from them. Dino give you a nice car and Padre gives a pretty nice pistol. Dino seemed to pay more for his jobs but he has the fewest jobs as well.

Netrunning is such a fun playstyle too. Especially when you unlock the contagion that explodes when hit with first (purple level). So much fun uploading that and blowing people up!
