I played a game this last week that’s getting dragged through the mud right now called Mindseye. The game has flopped pretty hard, and I get why it’s taking heat, but I actually had a decent time with it. I ran into one or two glitches, and the framerate did have some issues, but for the most part, it played well for me. The story was mostly engaging, and the premise had some promise, though it veers off in a really random direction at the end. The game also had a lot of interesting design choices.....like an open world with no map to open, unusual and often hard-to-read mission markers, and a few other quirks. While the core gameplay isn’t groundbreaking, I still had fun with it.
It’s the kind of game that makes having a Gamefly subscription perfect. I can see why the game flopped, and despite its flaws, it was fun enough to enjoy as a rental. I’d have been disappointed if I’d bought it.
