The Video Game Thread

Yeah I just got done doing a second play through of Tsushima so that I am warmed up and not rusty when Yotei comes out. I played Tsushima on lethal mode this time. That was fun.
Never done lethal. Im doing hard. The open world is to bad but those duels though! Parry game needs to be strong, and I don’t have all my toys lol

I played a game this last week that’s getting dragged through the mud right now called Mindseye. The game has flopped pretty hard, and I get why it’s taking heat, but I actually had a decent time with it. I ran into one or two glitches, and the framerate did have some issues, but for the most part, it played well for me. The story was mostly engaging, and the premise had some promise, though it veers off in a really random direction at the end. The game also had a lot of interesting design choices.....like an open world with no map to open, unusual and often hard-to-read mission markers, and a few other quirks. While the core gameplay isn’t groundbreaking, I still had fun with it.

It’s the kind of game that makes having a Gamefly subscription perfect. I can see why the game flopped, and despite its flaws, it was fun enough to enjoy as a rental. I’d have been disappointed if I’d bought it.

The duels are incredible. Challenging, fun. And the background environments where you hold them. On the beach. Under a waterfall, under leaves changing colors. In a field of red flowers.

Just beautiful game design.

The Stawhat duels we a highlight of the same for me

Gamefly is sending Mafia: The Old Country. I played the last Mafia game and enjoyed it, so I'm looking forward to diving into this one. Been looking for a good game to dive into, so this may be it.
Play it before I break my controller trying to pass the last couple Astrobot levels they released.

I didn't get to play the original Deus Ex until many years after it came out. Arguably one of the most impactful games ever made. Great soundtrack, one-of-a-kind story, tons of replayability.

I'm very uneasy about this remaster. The graphical overhaul is pretty underwhelming and the quality of life features seem sparse. The series has already been on ice since Mankind Divided. I'm inclined to agree with a lot of sentiment I've seen elsewhere - that this remaster is probably going to underperform in terms of sales, and the poor sales will be misinterpreted as disinterest in Deus Ex as a franchise, rather than disapproval of slapdash remaster. Very possible that Deus Ex will go dormant again after this.

I agree with everything in your post. Deus Ex is one of my favorite games of all time. This remaster looks intentionally bad. As if they're trying to have an excuse to fully abandon the franchise for good. Every essential community mods and patches look ten times better. I guess the only good thing is people with newer consoles can play it with controller support now.

It could be worse though. One of my other favorite games Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines is getting a terrible cash grab sequel after all these years that will make sure that franchise dies as well.
