The Video Game Thread

Playing though Ghost it looks like it will be a solid 80-100 hours for Main, side tales and Mythics.

If you are thinking about getting this and haven't done Tsushima yet, I wouldn't recommend it. Play Tsushima first. Combat is much harder and you really need a feel for it from the jump. Its like they kind of expect you to be used to the sword fighting from Tsushima.

Overall, this game is incredible. Probably the best game I have played since Red Dead 2. This could be Sucker Punches Witcher 3

I love it.

I’m playing on lethal and dying quite a bit.

I had beaten Tsushima twice. I recently replayed Tsushima on lethal to get ready for Yotei to come out. Even though I just went through Tsushima on lethal and was “warmed up”. I’ve still died on lethal in Yotei quite a bit. The difficulty is really ramped up. Which is a good thing IMO.

That was one of the (few) criticisms of the first game is that it got too easy toward the end.

This one…. Really presents a challenge. A fun challenge though. I’m having a blast.

In Tsushima, once you got the super stagger armor, sword fighting lost alot of its tactics. The Tiger Lilly set is pretty similar but not really as effective in this game. Whats funny is the tooltip is even better than the Gosaku armor

I dont think I could ever do Lethal in either. Hard kicked my butt in Tsushima lol

Yeah the Gosaku armor is a bit OP for sure.

The interesting thing about Lethal is that in some ways it’s harder than Hard but in another way it isn’t.

In Lethal mode you die much quicker. One or two hard hits and you’re cooked.

However, your enemies also die faster than at hard.

It’s truly lethal for both you and the enemies.

Interesting. Its similar in Fallout 4 where Hard is actually harder than Survival, because in Survival you actually get buffs that offset the health and damage increase

Yes exactly. It almost makes it “more realistic” because instead of just making enemies damage sponges. It makes them more aggressive and allows less room for error for both you and them. Where getting bit by a katana once or twice is enough to end you lol

I've always wanted to play that Alan Wake series. Reminds me of the old school Alone in the Dark or Resident Evil games. Sometimes a good horror experience is what you need. Some of those VR horror games are a trip.
Never played the first Alan Wake, but I did play the second one. It was good. Had some fantastic graphics.

I haven’t done a ton of horror games in VR (I’m a bit of a scaredy cat, haha), but I’ve played a few. I made it through most of Resident Evil 7 in VR, and it was really well done IMO. From what I understand, they’re getting better and creepier, so if you’re into that kind of thing, I’d say find a game and jump in.*

*Assuming you’ve got a VR headset. If not, maybe look around this Christmas.......the PSVR2 actually dropped to $200 during Amazon Prime Days, so there’s a chance similar deals pop up again for the holidays.

Played quite a few hours of Mafia: The Old Country. Great-looking game, but a really slow burn. The story isn’t bad and kept me going for a while, but not quite enough. I packaged it back up last night and I’m sending it back to GameFly........too many other games I want to play right now.

If it ever goes on sale or I find myself with nothing else to play, I’d probably pick it back up and finish it. But for now, I’m good. Battlefield 6 drops Friday anyway.
That game is in my Que, but I keep moving other games up that seem more promising. Between GameFly and the PSN "free" games, I haven't purchased game at full price in ages. I don't think I can take a slow burn game. I don't have the patience I had when I was younger. I guess I'm older and I know I don't have as much time left to spend on games that don't hook me immediately. Luckily, I played some great slow-burn games when I was younger and I actually had the mental time to let the game develop. Otherwise, I would have missed out. Having said that, I will probably fall in love with the new Mafia game.

Started played Amazons MMORPG New World, ton of improvements and an expansion since release. Fairly impressive but so much to learn and do.
