The Video Game Thread

Yes Cyberpunk was released too soon with too many bugs. They made some major upgrades post release.

That’s one of the things that annoys me nowadays. I feel like so many developers release games that are buggy and not ready because they’re sticking to deadlines given by the folks who are handling the business aspect.

I get it the companies have to make money. But it is annoying as a gamer.

When it comes to GTA. I would be shocked, shocked if it’s not an amazing game.

They pretty much all have been.
I forgot that was the knock on Cyberpunk it was the bugs.

It’s crazy man I think I’ve been playing gta since the late 90s… I didn’t know Dan and Sam haven’t been apart of GTA….i thought maybe those guys were old now….only 52…… man they were making those games young..

Yeah man. I remember the over the top view on PS1.

Then when the first 3D GTA came out for PlayStation 2. It was crazy, ground breaking game.

I don’t even know if it’s possible to underwhelm. I remember the one game….Cyberpunk it underwhelmed but had life because of multiplayer. Seems like that saves games even if the story underwhelms.
Not sure if I read your post correctly, but cyberpunk never had multiplayer. It was planned but scrapped before release

Yeah the over the top had meh graphics even for that era but man was it so fun. I had to rent it from Blockbuster back then lol.

Then when it into the 3d 3rd person video….my goodness. Legendary.

I’m not a fan of it either.

However, I think the reason Rockstar gets a pass is because their last two mainline games GTA 5 and RDR 2 were both absolute 10 out of 10 masterpieces.

Also, I think they get a bit of a pass because of the amount of content their games have. GTA 6 between the campaign, all the side activities, and then online will literally have hundreds if not thousands of hours of gameplay. So even if you spend $100 on it. You’re going to be paying Pennies per hour of game content.
Yup thats the key for me in this game market. If I get an hour for a dollar of entertainment, Im happy. I think I did about 500 hours of GTA5, so Im still getting good value for my entertainment $

If you look back and Rockstars mainline titles since GTA3, you can find one that isn't in the GOAT convo

I got a PS2 and GTA3 with a large chunk of my boot camp money lol. Bough both on Parris Island right after graduation

Yeah those prices are crazy, 250 GB sata 3 Samsung SSD on Newegg, about 250 bucks. Last one I bought which was 500 GB was considerably less than $250
I was laughing with a friend the other day because I never thought buying a gaming console would end up being an "investment". I paid $500 for my Series X, and now they're going for $799. Even my PS5 Pro I paid $699, and now they're up to $899.

I'm SO glad I grabbed a 2TB SSD for my PS5 Pro when I did. I paid around $150 for one with a heatsink on Amazon about a year ago. Now that same drive is around $379. It's all just kind of insane to me.

Damn makes you want to go the PC ROUTE at this point.

That's fair, and let's be honest, I'm definitely going to end up purchasing it. I'm not missing out on GTA VI. I do think it's going to sell insanely well (maybe even break records), but I do wish they would have at least released a physical version. I know we're in the digital age, but there are still a lot of physical media fans out there.

And you're right, if this game ends up delivering hundreds of hours of gameplay, the value will absolutely be there. It's just the direction gaming is going that bothers me a little.....higher prices, deluxe editions, and content locked behind more expensive versions.

RDR2 never sucked me in quite the way it did for a lot of other people, but I did play it, and that has to be one of the coolest, most immersive open-world maps I've ever experienced. It was incredible. I have no doubt this new "Miami" map is going to be massive. I've seen all sorts of things about the map and game floating around social media, but it's hard to know what's real and what's just speculation these days.

Yeah man. I remember when it came out. I was 15. My friend and I walked to the video game store and bought it. We played it the entire weekend, there was just so much to do. Hours and hours of just killing people, getting our star rating up as high as we could, etc.

Good times.
