The Video Game Thread

Even though I told myself I wouldn't....I broke down and pulled the trigger on a Switch 2 last night. It feels like a Switch 1....but bigger.

I really want to play the new Star Fox remaster and the anticipated Ocarina of Time, though.

I did screw up, though. Best Buy keeps them behind the front counter in a storage area. I asked for a Switch 2, and, well....the employee brought me a Switch 2. I completely forgot to ask for the version that doesn't come with the choice of three digital games. Honestly, none of them really interest me. I got home, unpacked everything, and only then realized I'd bought the wrong version. Eh, too late. I'm not packing it all back up and making another trip. So now I have to decide which of the three games to claim. It'll probably be Mario Kart, though. lol

Did something I haven't done in a LONG time. Fired up the PS5 at 12pm and didn't turn it off until 8pm. I haven't had a gaming session like that in years.

It was 104° out in Boise, and with basically the entire Pacific Northwest on fire, the smoke has been brutal. Which basically meant I was staying inside. So I sat down and finished 007: First Light.

I really enjoyed it. It was mostly a slow burn, but I thought the story was really good and it had some great moments of action. The graphics were crisp, the controls felt good, and the fighting mechanics were fun once you got the hang of them. I'm not usually big into stealth games, but this one actually made it fun for me for some reason. Plus, you have the option to run and gun if that's more your style...which is usually my style.

It's the perfect GameFly-type game for me. One solid playthrough, enjoy the story, and move on to the next one. If you like action-adventure games, I'd definitely recommend giving this one a shot.

I haven't had time to play anything recently. Sill working in the biz and trying to find some balance. What's recent and worth playing? I need a break and want to play some games!
Guess it depends what you're into.

I've been playing the Halo Campaign Evolved the last couple days. Classic game and they did an amazing job remastering it. It looks gorgeous.

It feels like what I thought it looked like back in 2001.

Wow that does look incredible.

My son is 10. And he’s getting into Halo with me now.

I have the master chief collection and we are working through the campaigns doing co op.

We are on Halo 3 now.

We also play Halo Infinite online via split screen. He’s pretty good at multiplayer. His k/d ratio is already positive.
