Brugler had him as a 6th rounder:
STRENGTHS: Bulky, compact frame with good adequate playing strength…better closing speed than expected with the chase skills and foot athleticism to work around blocks…plays decisive and physical vs. the run…lowers his pads and drives through his target – aggressive on-field demeanor…uses his eyes well to track the ball while engaged or avoiding blocks…clearly improved his football IQ over his career…bait and floats in coverage with a good feel in space…strong football character and viewed as a team leader – humble and hardworking…made impact plays on kickoff and punt coverages…productive two-year starter (24 career starts), leading Iowa in tackles both seasons and earning Second Team All-Big Ten honors in 2013.
WEAKNESSES: Appears maxed out physically and could probably lose some bad weight – plays too heavy…plays tight when moving laterally and shows some body stiffness, lacking easy COD skills…will play too tall and make himself an easy target for blockers – needs to do a better job protecting his lower body…inconsistent angles and will overpursue his target…needs to consistently finish – strong hands, but doesn’t always put himself in the right body position…too reactionary and needs to improve his diagnose skills to better anticipation the action…has only played the LB position for two full seasons…minor durability concerns after a knee injury limited him in 2011.
