A football player celebrates success, taking the lead, and has faith that maybe the defense will hold that lead with 3:50 left. Or maybe they will allow a FG and the offense will have a chance to win. That comes with being wise with cap money. First move, don’t overpay a mediocre QB 1/3 of the money you have.

Teams have won Superbowl games with ok QBs on multiple occasions. Not one won any with a mediocre defense. Buy a defense with Dak’s cap hit, rebuild a team that’s tougher in the trenches.

I wanted to keep Dalton, blow up the team, buy a real defense, and rebuild. I was laughed at. If that happened, they’d be better off than this team is today. Defense wins super bowls. Period.

Brady and Mahomes had great defense propelling those teams. So did Aikman, Staubach, Flacco, Dilfer, Williams, etc and so on.
