The way Romo handled Dez was incredible

I have a different take .......I agree not so much OFF the field but good field general. He's a C-type but without him, I'm not sure Dez plays as long as he did. He knew Dez's weaknesses as a route runner. I'm pretty sure he changed lots of plays from the sideline which put Dez at a disadvantage. This is why Dez struggled once Dak began as the starter.........running the correct route were critical.

Dak inherited an injured Dez. Dez never recovered from his broken foot bone from 2015. Even then, under Dak, Dez had the highest yards/catch average (15.9) in his career. Not bad receiving passes from a rookie QB who supposedly needed Dez to run precise routes.

Romo had a hand to handle headcases. Not only Dez. He had a lot of success with TO also.

But with all the players he played with i had the feeling he knew how to handle each (well most) of them to have success.

In that way he was a good leader.

Tony adapted to each player, using their best qualities.
He changed how he threw passes when throwing to dez.

Him and Dez had the fade in EZ down pat, and on deeper sideline passes, he threw those high
arch so Dez has advantage when they come down.

Dak just threw directly at Dez.

Fwiw, Romo did throw what should've been the winning TD vs them with 17 seconds left.

2007 was Romos 1st full season starting. Who knows, maybe 2014 version of Romo leads them to a W. Then again, the game-winning pass wouldve been the same. Perfect. Maybe Crayton would've have pulled up or wouldve have dropped another TD pass earlier. Maybe TO wouldn’t have been hurt

They held NE and brady to 14 points? They beat GB with a still young rodgers in GB.
And Eli played great in that playoff run, he had some great receivers who helped him out,
but Eli made plays.
It was their defense though that made the difference in all those playoff games.
